Lubbock doesn't wait for changes to come, the city itself breeds more than 900 architects annually in the College of Architecture program at Texas Tech University. Within the city you are going to see the biggest concentration of architecture by the famous sculptor Robert Bruno. The best masterpiece by his hands - the Bruno House today decorates the cityscape of Lubbock.

Lubbock was founded in 1876 in honor to Thomas S. Lubbock, a signatory to the Texas Declaration of Independence. Modern Lubbock began to take shape from the alliance of old Lubbock with the small Monterey community. The residents of old Lubbock relocated to Monterey south of the Yellowhouse Canyon. After this new Lubbock was incorporated as a city in 1909.
