For the amount of money you pay, you are better off staying at a newer/nicer hotel downtown closer to where everything is.

All staff was very pleasant, but it seems that management knows people will come here for the historical appeal, therefore they have no need to invest money in renovating the hotel part of this complex.

They really need to do some work to this hotel, especially at the price they charge for a room!

You can stay at a much nicer hotel for about the same price (which would be well worth it!

Great location next to the free shuttle and lots to do in the hotel with little kids, but really in need of a major renovation.

The best part of our stay was the location and large parking area.

Great location, friendly staff that always go above and beyond the call of duty.

But it is a HUGE hike on foot in 40 degree weather across a sprawling parking lot.

The best thing that it has going for it is that it is close to downtown, and right next to the free electric tram station that serves downtown.

It had a nice comfortable bed, but the bathroom was, of course, very old and I really didn't want to take a bath there.

The room is newly furnished, comfortable bed, nice bedding etc.

The room was dirty, bed uncomfotable, table and chairs were essentially patio furniture, shower never got hot, killed 3 bugs.

We had a comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, and good service.

We got a standard room with king size bed but the bonus was that this hotel has started renovating.

Good food, reasonably priced, we ate in the main buffet restaurant for breakfast.

A very nice bar, an excellent fine dining restaurant in the opposite direction and because of the 2 outdoor pools.

We ate the breakfast buffet at the Gardens restaurant where the kids ate for free.

We did not eat at any of the other restaurant offerings so cannot comment on their quality or value, but with the exception of the train car diner the two "sit-down" restaurants looked quite nice.

We ate alot of our meals in the garden restaurant where the kids eat free.

The room was clean when we arrived and the front desk staff was very friendly.

Other than that, we had no problem with the facility, the staff, the service, the cleanliness or the restaurant.

I was pleased with the front desk staff who were courteous and helpful.

None too friendly staff, front desk refuses to answer the phone.

Another good thing is the hotel is next door to the free shuttle, which made it convenient to visit downtown without paying parking fees.

The parking there can be expensive and congested, so the shuttle was a great perk.

It is fair distance from the popular river-front area (where the acquarium, IMAX theatre, baseball stadium and most restaurants/bars are located), but a shuttle is available from right next door to the hotel and driving/parking is extremely easy.

The staff was great and our room was clean.

I received a good government rate thru the hotels website, clean bathrooms and we received a complimentary breakfast each morning for our family.

Great dining, friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms.

All the hotel staff was fantastic, room was very clean and comfortable.

The service was superb, the room was clean and from cocktails to dessert the food was excellent.

    Shops are nice and big train for the kids to play around. Additionally the hotel lobby is fantastic, the room could stand a good cleaning and the gardens are truly lovely.

    Granted the building is old and the restaurants are not much better.

    Fountain area is really nice, the public electric bus service is convenient and rooms/hotel in general needed updated. The lobby is interesting, the TV didn't work all that well and the gardens are lovely.

    The train room was fantastic and the Art District downtown was quite nice altho we didn. The water was clean as was the surrounding area, our stay was perfect - would highly recommend the facility to others and the main building was very interesting. The price was well worth and the main lobby was attractive. The service was good and beds were comfortable.

    Walking into the old station was amazing, ruby Falls Rock City was awesome and the atmosphere was even better. The prices were quite reasonable, the staff was friendly and helpful, the check-in area was really cool. Shower worked well and pillows were comfortable.

    The room lobbies were dirty and the buffet at the restaruant was expensive.

    Location is good as 's a short drive to Lookout Mountain, now ALL of our stuff is sitting in the garage waiting to be cleaned and the lobby is nice. Furthermore the rooms are nothing fancy, the gardens are beautiful.

    The trains could use a little TLC, the distance between buildings is very small.

    The on-site restaurant was fairly good too, chattanooga's downtown was quite nice and lively, the price was well worth. The service was superb, the room was clean and from cocktails to dessert the food was excellent. Dinner in the upscale Dining Car was wonderful, the pool was great for the kids.

    The shops were interesting to walk through and everything about the hotel was fine. The price was well worth and the staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean, the buffet at the Gardens Restaraunt was really good and dinners were all great - the servers were polite. The pool/waterfall was wonderful.

    Not a bad place and so we headed over to the outdoor pool at building #2. Prices way too high and other than the historic lobby. The staff was great and our room was clean. The restaurants were excellent and also Dinner in the Diner Car was very nice.

    Building #3 for the best pool for the kids and not worth the money we paid at all. Ruby Falls were good and spacious and maid service was excellent. The room was clean and restaurants were nice.
