GM Renaissance Center
The GM Renaissance Center, also known as the RenCen, is a group of seven interconnected skyscrapers located on the Detroit Riverfront. It is the world headquarters of General Motors and the tallest building in Michigan. The complex houses a variety of attractions, including restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and a hotel. It also features the General Motors World exhibit, which showcases the company's products and history. The Renaissance Center is a popular tourist destination in Detroit due to its stunning architecture and its central location near other attractions such as the Detroit RiverWalk and the Eastern Market.
The GM Renaissance Center was first built in 1977 and underwent a major renovation in 2004, which added a glass atrium and updated the interior of the building. The complex covers 5.5 million square feet and has over 4,000 employees working for General Motors. Visitors can take a guided tour of the facility or explore on their own. The complex is also home to the headquarters of other companies, including the Detroit Regional Chamber and the Detroit Economic Club.
