     Today Corpus Christi is well-known as a transportation hub and for this it is influential in business. Its port, the sixth largest in the United States serves mostly for exchanges of oil and agricultural products and in 2005 it was even ranked as the 47th largest in the world by cargo.

     Tourism also makes share to the city's income. It became a popular tourist destination for its white beaches and family-friendly vacations.

All travel to Corpus Christi for its beaches, history and attractions, which include;

- The Bayfront, an area along Shoreline drive and perfect location for family evening strolls

- Corpus Christi Cathedral, a beautiful church from the 1940s

- Art Museum of South Texas, a location for contemporary works of local artists

- Miradors, the gazebo-like structures with small plaque commemorating the city's past
