City Guide:

Say ''Beervana''.

It’s s nickname Portland acquired thanks to Henry Weinhard – the father of brewing in the United States’s Pacific Northwest. Due to his merit Portland became a beer-perfumed destination when Henry Weinhard bought the oldest brewery in the city - the Liberty Brewery, producing from 2,000 barrels per year to 40,000 barrels within a year of his takeover.

Numerous other breweries followed suit.

Some of that beer being kept cool in your refrigerator may originate from Portland. If you want a trip to the home of the oldest beer recipes, than consult Booked.net. This is a website to meet discount prices on all hotels in Portland from cheap rooms to those that are luxury appointed.

In Portland, to refuse from a good bottle of beer is equal to crime and this city has even special way to sample the quality that produced beer has. It is the Skidmore Fountain – a historic place where Henry Weinhard volunteered to pump beer from his brewery at the day of its dedication.

Other attractions include;

- Pittock Mansion, Victorian mansion in the hills of Portland

- Portland Art Museum, a home to several art collections of contemporary artists

- Jamison Square with a city park at the heart of the Pearl District

- Chinese Classical Garden, urban retreat with beautiful pond

City parks and green gardens make up a distinct feature of Portland's face. In fact, this is the main reason the city nicknamed a ''City of Roses''. Portland is not just one of the most impressive cities in Western America, but also the second largest in Pacific Northwest after Seattle.

Portland is considered to be a ''West American Beauty'' soaked into the laid-back northern Pacific coast. Portland lies in Oregon at the nearby confluence of the Willamette River with the Columbia River at Vancouver, Washington.

This proximity to the rivers meant the fertile banks of Portland were first inhabited more than 10,000 years ago. As legend has it, among the first to discover Portland were William Overton and Asa Lovejoy. They obtained this land because of its commercial prospects.

Commerce was fuelled by its riverside location thus fishing, lumber, and agriculture industries began. Then railroad arrived in the 1880s, and Portland became the largest city on the west coast till Seattle eclipsed its growth when railroad came to the state of Washington too.

From its history to geography Portland has many options to fuel your interest in it, while Booked.net has many hotel offers for you in Portland.
