With the passage of time Cincinnati still refers back to its origins. In 1788, Matthias Denman, and Robert Patterson purchased the land of modern Cincinnati that was initially called ''Losantiville'' meaning "city across from the mouth of the Licking River." As soon as business drew residents to the city Cincinnati adopted the name of the "Queen City of the West''. This change occurred when the land was put to use for business opportunities in the beginning of the 19th century. Afterwards, hotels and restaurants arrived to the city to meet the needs of the fast-developing metropolis. In addition, farmers grew crops to lift Cincinnati to Ohio's major trade post.

At one time it had a reputation of being backward and it this peculiarity that famous author Mark Twain pocked fun at, stating ''I want to be here when the world ends, as the city is always 20 years behind the times''.

Mark Twain isn’t here to compare his assessment with modern Cincinnati, but you can on your trip to the city. You will see beyond Cincinnati's reluctance to change, toward giving in to modern pressures and development.

Today it is no more a farmland, but a home to major corporations like Procter & Gamble and Kroger. For its economic opportunities and low crime rate the city was ranked the America's Most Livable City in 1993. This ranking lifted it to the top of travel lists; therefore Cincinnati has abundance of hotels to stay in. Booked.net offers them all on-line at the lowest possible price.
