The city is a wonderful leisure retreat for its spacious golf courses, rare bird species in the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge where you can also indulge in hiking, fishing and boating. Afterwards, it is high time to go sightseeing. Attractions include;

  • The Yuma Crossing Park, a bustling place to take it easy in the city

Yuma is a city of two stories. First comes its history and after the story of Yuma's name. Originally thriving under Spanish rule, Yuma soon changed hands to America and expanded on its riverside location. In the 1850s the city became a major river crossing in California for gold seekers treading the river's banks. The steamboats traveled up and down along the Colorado River carrying passengers, goods for mines and so on. The heyday for commerce in the area came when the railroad has reached it in the 1870s.

Along with the early change of hands, came a succession of names for the city. In its very early years it was called as Colorado City, but soon the name was changed to Arizona City from 1858 to 1873. Yuma earned its current name not so long ago in honor to its early dwellers – the Yumas tribes.

Whatever way you regard Yuma, from its history to fun, your stay in Yuma can be packed with all possible comforts with a booking at Booked.net.
