Villa Amadeus is a no frills, but clean hotel. The strength of this hotel is it's location just outside of Potsdamer Platz, and a fantastic breakfast. I was at this hotel 10 years ago and returned specifically because I knew they would serve me up a good breakfast, while my room would be clean and comfortable, though not luxurious. I was not disappointed. Inflation has cut into the value of the room, but not enough to remove it as a viable option for the bargain hunting Berlin traveler.
The night staff were not particularly accommodating or helpful, and actually seemed put out when called upon to do their jobs after 10PM or before 7AM. Be aware, though they don't tell you, that the two keys you receive are for the hotel door and for your room. After 10PM they lock up and so the second key is the way to gain admission to the hotel. This is good for security purposes but can be a bit inconvenient.

The room was huge and it was lovely to be off the street in a courtyard that had a museum in it. All the rooms have huge windows, and I was able to lay in bed with fresh air coming in, and watch a huge tree swaying outside the window. Such a nice change for an inner-city hotel! The breakfast was great - one of the best I've had for a hotel in this price range. It was fantastic to have an entrance to the rooms that didn't require going through reception, so it felt like coming 'home' instead of to a hotel every night.
Wi-fi was a bit dodgy at times, but when I asked them turn the router off and then on again it was fine. (It's in the window in the dining room.)

No problems whatsoever with this hotel. Fairly basic but good size room, useful work surface and spot-on WiFi. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Easy to find and good location for accessing the U-bahn - 20 minutes into the Hbf.

The breakfast was very good. The room was big and clean enough.Location was very good. Close to metro and shopping places. Very central. Pretty much ok for its price.
The reception and the rooms are in seperate buildings. There is no elevator and you have to climb up the stairs with your luggage.

Breakfast was very good ;)
The wireless internet didn´t work in my room because the signal was too weak. This was the biggest problem in the room. I had to go to the reception where the wireless net worked well with my computer. The lights in my room were not bright enough.

The location is close to the city centre. The staff are ok. The room is spacious. Basic facilities for short-stay tourists. If you consider the price, everything is just as expected.

After staying at overly priced Pensions for a few nights prior to moving to the Armadeus, the Amadeus was like a breath of fresh air. It was very nice for the price. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean.
Like all hotels in Berlin that claim they offer WiFi, or internet, it didn't work regardless of what they did. My suggestion is, when choosing a hotel, don't ask "do you have internet?", but you should ask "how far away is the nearest internet cafe?". Everyone needs a hotel to have free internet, and it's very easy for a hotel to claim that it does have internet. 5 hotels in Berlin that we stayed at, all of different prices, all claiming to have wifi - but none actually did. One did have one terminal that the entire hotel had to wait to use.

Although our first impression of the hotel (it has no street presence--you enter through a very narrow alley) were tentative, we enjoyed our stay. It was very conveniently located in central Berlin and within walking or trolley distance from all the things we wanted to do. We had a rental car and there was secure parking which we appreciated. Breakfast was not fancy but certainly tasty and adequate. The only reason we wouldn't recommend it to our friends is they may not understand why we chose to stay there. Ethnic community.
Some of the staff did not understand English.

The wi-fi is great. Room is spacious, everything is clean. Surrounding is quiet. Close to Metro (U-Bahn). Breakfast is very good.
Just no elevator, but if you are not travelling with a big suitcase then it's totally fine.
