City Guide:

     Fort Worth is a city where legends are born.

     This quiet town with its distinct provincial charm couldn't even imagine to be recognized worldwide by its notorious reputation. It once became a shelter for outlaws – including the famous Bonnie and Clyde. Clyde Barrow, modest criminal and Bonnie Parker, new comer on their bloody bank robbing path, found Forth Worth as an ideal place to hide out from police.

     On their crime-fueled joy ride, this couple stayed in Fort Worth's Stockyards Hotel. A doorplate bearing their names still marks the entrance to their room. You can stay in this hotel too, if you consult From cheap hotels in Forth Worth to luxury, all are available with maps, photos and secure forms at

     This love story came to an end when The New York Times reported: ''Clyde Barrow, notorious Texas 'bad man' and murderer, and his cigar-smoking, quick-shooting woman accomplice, Bonnie Parker, were ambushed and shot to death today...". Years passed and everyone still talks about the details of their death, but no one seems to care much about the little corner of East Texas - Fort Worth - where the events that led to their death were set in motion four months earlier.

     Today on your trip to Fort Worth you will hardly find Forth Worth to be the small corner it was in the 1930s, it has grown to become the fifth largest city in Texas with a population of 661,000 residents occupying a total area of 298sqmiles of Fort Worth. Attractions include;

- The Fort Worth Zoo opened as the first zoo in Texas in 1909

- The Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, the oldest museum in Texas and also the second-largest museum gallery for modern art in America

- Sundance Square, an array of 20 blocks of shops, bars, sidewalks and historic buildings

- The Fort Worth Botanic Garden, a place to take it easy in the city

     These attractions make up a big part of city's backdrop, historical as well. It started as a tiny outpost on a lonely frontier along the banks of the Trinity River. Its fertile lands made it a favorite hunting ground for Native Americans till the first settlement was established by Jonathon Bird in the winter of 1840. When the first conflict with new residents arose both sides were brought to the table to draw up a boundary line - “Where the West Begins” – the Fort Worth boundary.

     Today locals say their city is crucial historically not only for Bonnie and Clyde, but for President John F. Kennedy, who delivered his last public speech in Fort Worth before leaving for Dallas in 1963. Some even say that Fort Worth is a city under a spell, but to make it clear you need to go there. can assist you with this if choose one of the hotels listed on our website for your stay.
