     Otherwise, this library is a place to discover all records about Austin's past. It is not going to take you huge efforts as Austin was established in 1838 when Mirabeau B. Lamar, president of the Texas Republic came there to hunt buffalo. He returned home with a much greater idea like convert Austin into a home for the new state capital. In a year Austin was on its way to becoming a city where creativity and unbiased thinking are valued.

     Austin's days as a small town are gone because new buildings appear and new people migrate, but its initial charm is still the same, only the fans of rock diva Janis Joplin today are carried by other scene performers.
