City Guide:

     Say ''Wild Wild West''.

     This is what Kansas used to be before it became ''The Heart of America''. Today it outnumbers Paris by the quantity of fountains and makes Rome doubt whether its century proven leadership in architecture is so indisputable.

     Do you want a trip to this ''City of Fountains''? There is nowhere that makes it easier for you than at Booked.net. We have all hotels in Kansas City from cheap offers to luxury hotels all available with maps, photos and secure forms at Booked.net.

     But fountains are not the only to look at in Kansas. This is a fruitful land for inventions that changed the world. Surprising for a city that rose from dusty plains, it was here that Almon Stowger of El Dorado who invented something that put the world at the path of globalization – the dial telephone - in 1889. A bit later in 1909 William Purvis and Charles Wilson of Goodland would prove that men can fly without wings…with the help of the helicopter and Omar Knedlik of Coffeyville would make your fizz stay cool with the first frozen carbonated drink machine in 1961.

     Innovation is not all when it comes to Kansas City. It is regarded as one of the windiest cities in America with extremes of hot and cold, like 32 degC in summer and below 17degC in winter. This is a city with rough character – from the weather to the way the city looks. Attractions include;

- Kansas City Palace, the tallest office tower structure in Missouri

- The Nelson-Atkins Museum marked the beginning of the stunning Euro-Style Bloch addition in 2007

- The towering Power and Light Building, done in Art Deco style

     Today Kansas is inspired by modernity - reflected in the high-rises dominating the city but still with plenty of elements of its past.

     Kansas is a destination to test your nerve. What shaped it like that? This is a result of a series of extraordinary moments in the history of Kansas. Officially incorporated on March 28, 1853, it changed hands several times, but a real problem occurred when the Civil War reached the city, something it would take time it to recover from. Post-war growth was slow and had only gined momentum just before World War II interrupted. After the war growth was swift however and Kansas metropolitan area gained a population of about 400,000 residents and doubled its size from 1940 to 1960.

     But today for the most of tourists Kansas is not its history, but a city for world's best barbeque and jazz playing in night clubs. You can see and experience all of this with a good hotel in Kansas at Booked.net.
