     Don Tristan de Luna, a Spanish settler brought the first European interest to Pensacola in 1559. Even though a month later hurricane destroyed the first features of European civilization in the area, the settlers continued to flock to Pensacola. Consequently, Fort San Carlos de Austria became the first settlement in northwest Florida and its relics are still treasured at the Naval Air Station Pensacola. In addition, recent studies of the area uncovered the ship Emmanuel Point II – a shipwreck from de Luna’s expedition in 1559. Today you may take a tour to the place of the shipwreck or devote yourself to sightseeing within the city.

Attractions include;

     Whatever you prefer to do in Pensacola there is never a reason to get bored. Sitting at the end of Escambia County, Pensacola is open to the water from three sides of the tip of the ‘panhandle’. It means that Pensacola is packed with a full range of aquatic activities from fishing to scuba diving and snorkeling.

     Crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches of quartz washed from the Appalachian Mountains are the main attractions in the city. Despite the dead loss in 2004 caused by Hurricane Ivan in the city, Pensacola has totally recovered from the devastation.
