     By pure accident, John Hunt chose this area of sheer wilderness in 1805. Soon this small town began to take shape being the first ever incorporated town in the state and today serves as the birthplace of Alabama.

    Even though the Civil War brought Union troops to the city, this foreign presence wasn’t long in Huntsville. The city concentrated on business sustained mainly through textiles. This brought a good deal of money to the city making it a ‘cotton town’. Consequently, people boosted Huntsville for its emerging job opportunities and today only former ‘mill villages’ in the neighborhood of the city are reminders of its textile past.

     With World War II Huntsville shifted interest to technologies. Famous constructor Wernher von Braun with colleagues reshaped the city into a think tank of military innovations. Consequently, the famous George C. Marshall space Flight Center was established in Huntsville. Huntsville is till a hub for aerospace industry.

     Rockets are great symbols of the city’s past, but its present is even more culturally diverse. Huntsville is home to Havoc hockey, Huntsville stars baseball and Alabama Vipers football. In addition, the city features three shopping centers and abundance of dining choices. While you are in Huntsville, you shouldn’t miss one of the best coffee houses - The Klatsch. With the aroma of its fried aroma beans is perfumed all Jefferson street in downtown historic Huntsville.

After a cup of coffee, you can enjoy Huntsville’s past during touring the city. Attractions include;

- U.S. Space and Rocket Center Museum, an attraction of interest to space-amazed kids

- Huntsville Museum of Art has seven exhibit halls with regional and national art exhibits

- State Black Archives and Museum, located on the campus of Alabama A&M University

- Big Spring International Park where Huntsville was founded more than 200 years ago

- Monte Sano State Park, a large state park with 14 miles of hiking and biking trails
