     Taipei breathes with the nostalgia of old times.

     You can experience Taipei's culture how it was back then today’s vibrant metropolis with all comforts and high-tech innovations. Museums, monuments and old buildings all pay tribute to ancient days and the city's glorious history.

     You can bring history to life on your trip to Taipei. You need no more than book at Booked.net to have comfortable stay in Taipei in a cheap hotel there or in a luxury Taipei hotel all listed with maps, photos and secure forms at Booked.net.

     Taipei was for a long time ignored as it has poor strategic facilities, but settlers arrived there in the 1200s. And in 1600s the area was boosted by Portuguese traders and Spanish colonists. The first features of developed infrastructure came in 1800s and coming decades brought railroads and industry to the city.

     Today, Taipei thrives on electrical and electronic equipment, textiles, metals, shipbuilding, and motorcycles. This business makes it a city with some pollution, but it is still a prosperous governmental seat and cultural center.

Attractions include;

- The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall constructed in the memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a father of the Republic of China

- The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a symbol of Taipei

- The National Palace Museum offers the world's best collection of Chinese historical relics

- Daan Forest Park is the newest park in Taipei and occupies 26 hectares of central Taipei

- Longshan Temple, a Buddihst temple dedicated to Guanyin

     And one more thing to do in Taipei is shopping. This city is real shoppers’' paradise as malls are everywhere in Taipei. For example, if you go to the West Taipei you will find the old city with narrow streets, but packed with small shops. The East Taipei will meet you with wide boulevards and the four main shopping centers.

     You can find all these places in Tampei bordered by the Xindian River in the south and the Danshui River in the west, but generally the area of modern Taipei was once a poor lake. Everything changed there when Chinese came to do business and reshaped swamp into a beautiful metropolis. Since then immigrants boosted the city and today it is no surprise to Taipei being multicultural city. It is home to 2,607,428 people being compound of four ethnic groups – Hoklos, Mainlanders, Hakkas and aborigines.

     During your stay you may find out how these ethnic minorities blend together into the unique whole named Taipei. Booked.net can help you with finding a good hotel in the city.
