Stockholm hotels

     Say ''City of my dreams''.

     Just like Per Anders Fogelström, a prominent figure in modern Swedish literature, said after spending his life in Stockholm - a city that he dearly loved.

     The heroic setting of Swedish novels - Stockholm – has had a million pages written about, but it is still better to see it for yourself. It takes you just a click at Booked.net to get there with a stay in any hotel you choose at our website. We have collected them all, from cheap hotels in Stockholm to those packed with all luxuries all available with maps, photos and secure forms.

     It is true that Stockholm differs from its description the page, thus on your own trip there it can be a surprise for you as to discover huge changes. It re-emerged from the shadow of its Nordic past toward vanilla buildings holding bohemian shops and art galleries.

     Changes came with partnership in the European Union in 1995 and the IT boom of the late 1990s. After followed global recognition and a new Stockholm was born – a city of design, fashion and technology – that took to the international stage alongside New York, Paris and London. Well, it hardly beats romantic aura of Paris, but a quantity restaurants already outnumbers London.

     In Sweden Stockholm doesn't need to compete. It is the country’s biggest city with a 6650sqkm large metropolitan area, as well as a population of 829,417 people. All these residents jumped on a bandwagon of antipollution campaigns meaning in Stockholm this isn’t a problem.

     While the world chokes with exhaust fumes, Stockholm breathes fresh air. Thus, when in Stockholm forget about pollution as almost 30 percent of the city area is made up of waterways and another 30 percent is made up of parks and green spaces. It culminated in Stockholm being given the title of the first European Green Capital in 2009. It means that Stockholm is a city made for strolls and sightseeing. Attractions include;

- The Royal Palace, built between 1697 and 1754 and located in the Old Town

- The Stockholm City Hall, a place where the Nobel Prize Banquet takes place every year in the city centre

- The Stockholm Cathedral, the oldest church in Gamla Stan

- Vasa Museum – Vasamuseet – is an open air museum with 17th century warship

     And this is only a short list of places that are soaked in Stockholm's history.

     Stockholm is first heard of in the chronicle of Eric, according to this it was founded by Birger Jarl in 1252. The name of Stockholm refers to the town in between the bridges.

     You can trace all about Stockholm from its history to global confidence of today, easily with Booked.net.
