     Since the first changes has occurred, Colombians and foreign born immigrants boosted Bogota for new opportunities and a major part of them relocated there for better life. It shifted its number of residents from 121,257 inhabitants in 1912 to 8 million people in 2009 and changed the general makeup to more diverse percentages like 75.72 percent white, 5.73 percent African American, 0.15 percent American and 7.75 percent Asian and on.

Bogota became a capital of the vice-royalty of New Granada, and soon was established as a center of Spanish colonial power. In 1810 citizens overthrew Spanish rule and set up their own government.
