Chongqing hotels

     Chongqing is a hidden gateway to a truly Chinese experience.

     Even though Chongqing is away from most travelers' routes, it's still a great city both for business and relaxation. Chongqing suffers from its reputation of busy commercial port city as tourists bypass it for the more vibrant Beijing or Nanjing. But Chongqing is better in terms of commerce, cultural significance and size then you expect it to be.

     You can have a true experience of Chongqing only on your stay there. Be it a room in cheap hotel in Chongqing or luxury hotel all available with map, photos and secure forms at Booked.net. You can check them out at our website.

     The biggest city in China, Chongqing occupies about 82,000sqkm and rivaled by the size of Wuhan down the river. Located at the confluence of the Jialing and the Yangtze Rivers, Chongqing sustains nearby provinces of Sichuan and Guizhou serving as an important port city. This lifted it to the prominence of industrial hub that capitalizes on shipbuilding and automobile industry, but moving toward hi-tech and electronics processing.

     This image of business hub for a long time prevented Chongqing from attracting tourist interest. Consequently, the city was rarely toured until its ancient sites and exotic natural variety meant it has gradually became a focus of tourist interest today.

     Fueled by tourism, Chongqing has undergone a change in form of shopping malls and exquisite restaurants, but the city can easily set itself apart from major destinations only by its landscaped surroundings. Limestone caves, rocky hills and stone bridges place the city in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Other attractions include;

- Chongqing Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, a beautiful street in the downtown dominated by the famous Monument of Victory

- Great Hall of the People, an architectural symbol of Chongqing

- Three Gorges Museum, noteworthy for exhibits on life during the Qing dynasty

- Foreign Street, an entertainment park with a large number of shops

- HongYaDong, an area of old Chongqing packed with old local crafts

     Some of the city's sites are older than 3,000 years. Throughout the history Chongqing earned many names like Jiangzhou and Yuzhou and saw the rule of various dynasties. The changing regency brought many cultures including Yi, Tibetan, Miao and Qiang that today are interwoven within one city of Chongqing.

     Tourists also add to this local flavor because of Chongqing's convenient air transportation that makes it a crossing for overnight stays. Thus, in the city you will see all the top-end hotels already available at Booked.net.
