     Locals say it is not boring, but conservative, and not tranquil, but temperate. This is Calgary, that rare place where you may experience calm suburbia to aggressive urban sprawl, western pubs to vibrant night clubs and hot Latin sambas to country music.

     It can be about your relaxation days in Calgary, if you browse our comprehensive selection of hotels listed at Booked.net. From cheap hotels in Calgary to those abundant with luxuries all available with maps, photos and secure forms at our website.

     Calgary is a city with country instead of blood pulsating in its veins. In Calgary’s country music charts famous musician and songwriter, George Fox presented his first compositions. His debut single Angelina reached number eight, while his following songs would also become top 10 singles in the radio charts. Since then Calgary's best music has become alt country and you can enjoy it there in one of Calgary’s cozy pubs.

     Calgary is a city that sticks close to its country music roots, while its modern face is reflected in a number of theatre companies and marching bands like Calgary Round-Up Band, the Calgary Stetson Show Band and the Bishop Grandin Marching Ghosts all housed in the city.

     It supports events of the Calgary Stampede in July and a location for professional football and hockey teams. Moreover, it hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics being the first Canadian city to host the winter games.

Other attractions include;

- Prince's Island Park, the largest inner city park

- Barclay Parade, a perfect spot for shopping being a home to a number of high end shops

- Stephen Avenue Walk was declared a National Historic District by the Canadian Government

First established in 1875 as a Fort Calgary by the Northwest Mounted Police, Calgary grew into the world class city when Canadian Pacific Railway arrived in 1883. Since then thousands of settlers, businessman and tourists have boosted the area and in 1894 Calgary officially became a city. In the following years the population grew from 1,000 to 3,900 and today numbers 1,071,515 residents. They all live in the city with a total area of 726sqkm even bigger the area Toronto occupies.
