Situated in Lisbon’s downtown, the historic York House Hotel features a perfect location in Janelas Verdes Street, close to the Ancient Art National Museum and the Lapa district.

This boutique hotel, refurbished in 2003, is housed in a 17th century Carmelite convent which offers visitors the Matisse’s non-naturalistic blue walls at the entrance, beautiful stone staircase and a wonderful city garden terrace. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, bar, lounge, terrace, leafy courtyard, internet access, 24 hour room service, laundry service and babysitting.

The 32 well-appointed rooms feature stylish furnishings and are decorated with beautiful carpets floors. All guestrooms have private bathroom, direct dial telephone, air conditioning, internet access, cable television and hairdryer, and some have a gorgeous view over the river and rooftops of Lisbon.

Romantic location inside a garden and the Museum also has a nice coffee cafe inside.
The rooms are clean, the food in the restaraunt is great.

Getting there

If you arrive at Lisbon International Airport you should follow these directions to reach the York House Hotel, take bus 91 to Cais do Sodre at the Carris buses station, exit at the last stop and take the train or the tram line number 15, as option, and get out at Santos stop. The York House Lisbon is around five minutes away on foot from both the train and tram stops.

Getting around

The property is set just 1km from the Cais do Sodre train station and 1.8km from the Rossio railway station. The underground railway station the Marques de Pombal is only 2km from the property and the tram station is five minutes away.

Great view over the courtyard, taxis are cheap and the Museum also has a nice coffee cafe inside. The peaceful atmosphere in the middle of a busy city, the building is beautiful and rooms are decorated in a modern style suited me. The staff is particularly helpful, the food in the restaurant is very good.

Very beautiful and romantic location inside a garden, cheap and the tram goes from just down the road, the most outstanding aspect of the hotel is its charming helpful staff. The service is attentive and the bathrooms are very nicely done up. Portuguese coffee tends to be excellent.

The peaceful and tranquil location really translates into remote, small grocery stores in the neighborhood. A fantastic boutique hotel and york House made even better. Service and staff were friendly, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, we dined in the verdant terrace and had a gourmet buffet breakfast to the sound of chirping birds.

A location in the charming lapa/santos neighbourhood and good neighborhood restaurant nearby Nariz De Vinho Tinto on R. The hotel was quiet and staff were friendly. The room was clean, comfortable, lunch was delicious and the courtyard and beverage service was lovely on a sunny day. For us, just walking into the garden made us happy.

The area was very quiet and i found myself sleeping in every day, the hotel was full we called and got the last available room, friendly, helpful staff were extremely ready to help and advise. The shower was very large, a very beautiful garden we enjoyed our breakfasts.
