The mould on the ceiling in the bathroom, the general uncleanliness and the very small size of the room.

I enjoyed using all the leisure facilities for free, there was a lot of choice including a Japanese bath. I liked that it was in a good location close to the bus routes.

The shower curtain leaked quite a lot although the staff were great and sorted it out asap.

The staff in the day were great. However, there was a wedding on the Saturday night, and I was kept awake till 2 in the morning due to people using the adjoining door to the bar, running up and down the corridor, shouting and screaming. Despite them being in clear view of reception, no effort was made by the staff to stop them and it spoilt my stay.

The gym and swimming pool are excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good and while there are limited options on the evening menu it looked and tasted good. Depending on your requirements the rates can be very competitive.

My only problem with the Waterside are the rooms. I have to say that every time I stay there I get reminded how rubbish they are (booking there is normally my last option). On my last stay the double room I had (booked because I knew the single rooms would be really small) was really a single with a double bed pushed against the wall. The rooms are so small the TV's have to be mounted high up on wall near the ceiling as there is nowhere else to put them. In addition I could not get my legs under the desk to do any work. Every room I have stayed in looks old fashioned and have the feeling of being a bit tired. They could really do with freshening up. To all potential customers you need to decide what is key to you when deciding to book.

The staff were friendly and helpful, The quailty of the food was good - the buffett breakfast was excellent and good value if bed and breakfast booked. The free use of the fittness centre made this hotel extremly good value.

          The location was perfect

I lived near the Waterside Hotel for 16 years and always though it looked amazing from the outside so I was really happy when a chance occured to stay there, I was extremley disapointed the room was extremely small especially for 2 people, the bathroom was covered in mould and damp. We opened the window in the day as it was lovely outside and when we went to close it for bed the window wouldn't close so it was a very cold night! The lesiure facilites were very disapointing no staff I.e lifeguard, pool not cleaned, public areas were filthy. I suppose for £45 for a twin room it was ok for 'getting your head down' but anything else no way nor will I be returning again!

The staff, in particular the reception staff, were helpful and friendly.

The quality of the building is not perhaps what it once was - much of the exterior and decor seems tired, with paint noticably peeling. We attended a function at the hotel and the quality of the food was also poor: no cocktail sauce with the prawn cocktail; vegetables were under cooked; yorkshire puddings a strange combination of being rock solid and greasy at the same time! The bedroom that we were allocated was small with just a walk in wet room. The bed was far too small for my husband who is over 6ft tall.

Location suited us because we were visiting family in Didsbury. Food in bar was very good.

The rooms were very disappointing, very bad carpet on the floor and bathroom was very small and shabby. When I looked to change rooms I was offered a similar room next door, there was no difference in the rooms. The Shower in the bathroom was just on the wall. no shower tray or curtain/shower door and because the bathroom was so small the whole bathroom was soaked with water after showering. I showered in leisure center for remainder of stay. The rooms and bathrooms need major work.

Reasonable value for money. Access to the Leisure facilities

Service staff in the restaurant brought hot food out without cutlery, then went away to find cutlery whilst the food got cold. This happened each time I visited the restaurant. There was no information provided for guests staying at the Hotel about meal times or how guests could access the leisure facilities. Finally the free wifi is very week and kept dropping off, despite being advertised as 'across the entire hotel'. These are frustrating niggles, and this feedback is provided in the spirt of continuous improvement. All this said, I do aim to return to the hotel in the near furture.

The bar staff were brilliant they made you feel really welcome and all of them including the dark haired suited manager I think went out of their way with people. They really need to be commended for their work and running of bar, food etc

Rooms are very dated, shabby and in need of a complete modernisation. I stayed in a room on my own and it was the smallest room I've stated in. The wall heater repeatedly fell off the wall at night. Given that it's 2011 I think it wholly unacceptable that the bedding consists of thick blankets and a sheet. What is wrong with a duvet made this comment upon leaving and was told thank you like I had told them something good! On last night disco music blarring till 12.30am and was told well put up with it.
