The toilet paper holder is situated in an awkward location, and the toilet paper roll tends to come off of the holder.

This hotel is located in downtown San Diego and that's the best part - location.

Yes the location is not next to the gaslamp district, but not isolated.

If everything you're doing is within San Diego, forget the car and take a cab to & from the airport and around town (or bicycle cab, they hang out in front of the entrance, too).

All in all, though, a nice property and very convenient to airport and good parts of town (though this can be said for most places in SD proper).

Room: large modern well-furnished, with a great TV and DVD player, large comfortable bed, modern sparkling bathroom, excellent linens and towels, superb Bliss bath products.

Cool Corner Rooms are a great deal more spacious - both the room itself and the bathroom (which has ample counter/sink space, a large soaking tub and a large walk-in shower, Bliss bath products that they restocked daily).

I am still blown away by the comfort of this bed and the whole design of the room inside was really nice with fun colours, lots of pillows/cushions, big bathroom, big TV and fun things like a big blackboard and chalk to write on!

My "Wonderful" room was the perfect place to return to: calm, luxurious décor, loads of great snacks in the room, nice bath accessories, and the *most* comfortable bed in the world.

While we have stayed in hotels with no Jacuzzi or air tubs in the room, I can't remember staying in a hotel with NO BATH TUB WHATSOEVER.

Both the lobby bar and the second-floor beach bar were very open and welcoming, and the restaurant, Rice, served a fabulous breakfast.

Food: We sat at the pool and ordered food from the downstairs bar/restaurant.

The Beach (a bar) is really cool, the food at Rice (the restaurant) was great but pricey, and the bar food was inedible (although the bartender took it off my tab without me having to ask).

Their sand bar is beautiful and a lot of fun, their restaurant is tasty and the bar is a great place to go and unwind.

We did not get around to checking out the restaurant Rice or the other bar in the hotel, Magnet.

From valet to front desk, room service to bell desk, wait staff to concierge, everyone was extremely helpful and nice.

I'm baffled by the comments about rude staff on this website -- we were treated like royalty by the front desk personnel, concierge (who recommended an excellent seafood restaurant downtown called Oceanaire), bartenders and other staff.

The airy fitness center has an opening to the outside overlooking the pool and is available 24 hours.

Only complaint would be that the fitness centre is lame, 2 of the 4 treadmills were not functioning and the pool is big enough to cool off in but is not nearly large enough for any real swimming.

I didn't actually stay at the W on this trip, but my friends and I did make use of their Spa for massages, and as a consequence I hung out by the pool and the rooftop beach bar for a bit while my friend finished his massage.

I do wish the chair at the desk was more comfy than stylish as the lack of wireless in the room (though there is wired high speed internet for about $13/day) confines you to the desk when working and the chair gets old fast.

High speed internet was great (100 MB/sec) if you were hard-wired in, but the wireless signal was anemic and undependable.

Also the room was spotless and 4) bar drinks were good.

The room was beautiful, very clean, modern and quiet.

Staff was great, room was clean and restaurants were wonderful.

The room was spotless and well appointed.

It was a pleasant stay, in a clean, plesant room.
