Villa Sant Andrea Taormina - 陶尔米纳

This is one of the best hotels I've been to for location, views and breakfast.

The hotel's location (at the base of the funicular) is very handy for popping up to Taormina for evening meals and sightseeing.

Pros: Excellent location, his kitchen has the best food in town and the setting is extremely romantic.

Has private secion of beach and pros: Excellent location.

A taxi back after dinner was usually 15 Euro.

The view from the balcony in our room was stunning - we watched the sun rise over the sea from our bed, and the room was very comfortable.

The hotel rooms are small but well furnished and the maid service is excellent with beds turned down each evening (shower in our bathroom was very small).

Our room was the Percy Threwella Suite with the additional adjoining room.

Housekeeping was great and you also get your room made up in the evening with beds turned down, towells changed etc.

Suite (Room 301) which has an enormous terrace overlooking the cove and beach.

The restaurant was expensive (a la carte), but there are lots of local restaurants you can eat at.

The breakfast buffet, served on the terrace, was very elaborate for Italy and quite good, but like other reviewers, we found the restaurant (also on the terrace) ridiculous, with silly, over-elaborate food, outrageously priced.

The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent and the breakfast choice was plentiful and of a high standard.

They provide an excellent breakfast with a huge choice and the restaurant, Olivio, was pricey for lunch or dinner but very nice.

The hotel staff were friendly if not hugely flexible, and the front desk gave some excellent advice for restaurants (despite its name, the Tiramisu restaurant in town was excellent).

Staff ( waiters and reception personnel ) often rude and presumptuous and anyway, apart from a few exceptions, untrained and unfit for a four star hotel.

What promised to be a fantastic honeymoon for us was spoilt by the unhelpful staff, particularly on reception!

The reception staff we found helpful and smiling so maybe they have taken heed of the previous reviews.

Domestic staff adhered to a high standard of service and we were impressed when, on our arrival, the gardner insisted on taking our bags at the top of the drive.

I got a massage at the 'spa' and it was OK.

Parking: You will be charged 17 euros per day for valet parking as there are no parking spaces within the hotel grounds.

Yes, it is pricey but when you're sitting on the terrace overlooking the beach, drinking a Campari and enjoying the view of the bay, who cares?
