Vila Gale Ampalius Hotel Vilamoura

Just returned from a weeks holiday at this impressive hotel - sea view room a must to take advantage of location (situated a stone's throw from beach and marina).

The location of the hotel was amazing as we were right next to the beach and a 2 minute walk away from the marina where there were great restaraunts and bars.

The hotel has an excellent location close to both the beach and the marina.

There is a gypsy market in Quarteira every Wednesday – if you go out of the hotel take a left and walk along the beach promenade it’s approx 35 mins on foot or 10 mins by cab – it’s o.

Use a reputable car rental company at Faro airport.

The room was very tastefully decorated with a marble bathroom, wooden floor, comfy bed, tv etc.

We always book a suite which has its own bedroom, dining area, lounge area wth King Sized Bed and balcony with the best view in Vilamoura.

The room was huge with large bathroom, dining area, two single beds, sofa/armchair area and huge balcony and all the flooring was wooden which was great and very very clean.

We were sharing a triple room and our past experiences were a really cramped room with a tiny little camp bed.

Rooms are a reasonable size with a portable bed added for our child to use.

Didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast as you're so close to many other restaurants.

Breakfast consists of a buffet with a fair selection of food but was missing little touches, such as an omelette bar, which one would expect in a 4 star hotel.

Apart from breakfast we didn't eat at the hotel as you are within minutes walk from a great choice of bars and restaurants on the marina.

We found the Ampalius ideally positioned for walks around the marina with it's restaurants and shops ~ we ate out most nights but did stay in the hotel for a very good buffet evening meal once.

FOOD: The only meal we ate at the hotel was breakfast, as it was included, and we found the selection to be better than most we've stayed at in Europe.

The pool area was well maintaned, had a very good stay at your hotel staff were always very pleasant and the maid service was excellent.

Generally we found the Reception Staff were OK.

Found the staff rude at reception and unhelpful.

I can understand peoples frustration with the reception staff as it wouldn't hurt them to crack a smile every now and then but the bar staff were really friendly.

On the downside, lifts are a bit manky and small and you do ahve to pay to use the gym, tennis courts and sauna which is a bit annoying.

The rooms are great above standard, all the restaurants there are lovely and as the indoor heated pool is now part of the Spa.

Although the weather was horrendous while we were there we used the Spa facilities in the hotel where you could lie by the indoor pool and just relax.

The bedrooms were modern and spotless, and cleaned everyday!

The rooms were very clean, the food was excellent.

Rooms kept very clean, kitchenette was great and the food was only adequate.

Staff were very helpful and the rooms were very comfortable and clean.

Additionally the rooms are kept spotless, the food is also of a very good standard.
