Hotel staff is the best. And they should be for the money you pay to stay there. The rooms are small but are still very nice.

Was a nice trip. But unlike other sties. I over looked the fact that this site doesn't include the tax. Plus when I checked in I just valeted my car. But when I checked in there was no mention of the $25 dollar fee. So to my surprise at checkout the bill was $150 dollars more than what I thought it was going to be. Basically an extra $49 a day for valet ($25) + State Tax(~$13) + Occupancy Tax (~$11).

Great!!! This has been our 3rd stay in the past years. We appreciate the up grade we were offered. Since we travel from N.J. and live on a budget you took all of this into consideration..Thank you..We would recommend The Hotel Viking to anyone visiting Newport. ps Rm 315 was very nice and quiet.

Hospitable and friendly staff; luxurious and nicely updated room and bath, which was small but nicely deisgned

A fair amount of street noise through old single pane glass windows; noisy AC unit

The desk staff were courteous and helpful.

The restaurant staff at breakfast were rude and the food was pretty-well inedible -- which was acknowldged and some discount was given. The room was rather cramped and not euqipped to the standard I would expect for a prestigious hotel. Also, the several events run at teh same time make clear that it is business meetings that are the priority and not guests who want a relaxed few days. It was vastly overpriced for the standard of services provided.

The proximity to restaurants, shopping, the historic Newport mansions, the cliff walk, and the waterfront - all within walking walking distance. The hotel also has a lovely indoor pool

The room had a large shower, but no bathtub. This was in my booking request and was somehow overlooked. We could have requested a room change, but did not.

Good location in center of town. Pleasant and open staff.

Mismash. Booked 2 rooms, a king (209) and a double with 2 singles. The king room was located at the front of the hotel overlooking the entrance and close to the main road. The windows were single glazed wooden sash which didn't properly fit. Consequently lots of road noise and due to the rain storm, consistent dripping. Bathroom was appallingly small, badly fitted shower door resulting in water leaking onto very small tiled floor and never had to shave in a shoebox! Daughters room was modern but poorly designed. Indoor swimming pool was very tired and changing rooms were dirty and broken (ie disgusting). Snug appeared very pleasant but badly let down by economical commercial dated ceiling.

My husband and I went there for a Valentines Day getaway and wanted luxury and we had a wonderful romantic weekend at Hotel Viking and our room was Number 214 how coincidental! We enjoyed the two piece band in the lounge before dinner in the dining room and our room was gorgeous and the bed and bedding was very luxurious - loved the valet service and food and drinks were very very good! We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to our friends - Another couple was there the weekend before for his 50th birthday celebration and thats how we came to choose the Hotel Viking and it was a great choice!!!!! You will see us again!

Great staff. Charming well maintained building. Room was well appointed with nice furniture & a decent view of the harbor. The first room they put us had a heating problem. Serviceman came immediately & when he could not get the heat up he moved us into another room. When we checked out the next morning I found that they comped us for our buffet breakfast because of the heating problem. Nice touch.

I must be getting old - the bathroom sink is a pain in the bippy. It is one of those new above the counter sinks which leaves about 4 inches to place a glass for water under the faucet. There is complementary coffee in the lobby but they want to charge you $3.00 to use the coffee in your room.

Mid Winter Prices are great. Staff is polite. European feel to the rooms. They are not huge, bathrooms are on smaller side, but it has a nice feel. If you are looking for huge everything, go somewhere else. If you are looking for elegance, go here.

The hotel has character, quality service and is conveniently located. Lobby and common areas were well appointed and decoarted for the holiday season. Our room was simple, yet was adequate for our one night stay. Breakfast in the restaurant met all our expectations, in both service and price.
