A nice way to end my weekend. Good area, very central location next to the garden, and Oxford City centre. About 15 minutes walk from The Covered Market Oxford.
Very unfriendly staff!

Consider the fact that the hotel is only 2*, it was a really nice place Yao stay in. The guy in the reception was amazingly friendly. The hotel is not far from the city centre ( about 15 minutes walking)
The room was quite small and the water stream of the shower was horrible. I think that one of the worst showers I had.

Overall, this was a hotel I liked very much. The best thing about it was the breakfast, with the warm hospitality showed by the waiter who greeted me like a long-lost friend each morning, the tasteful classical music playing in the background and the lovely food - all in all a very good start to the day. The location is good with Oxford City Centre about 20min walk away (or a short bus ride) and easy access to the Oxford Ring Road and the A34 by car. There is ample free parking, the value of which should not be underestimated in this city!
I found my room stiflingly hot at night even with the window open - this was late July, however, so I doubt this is a problem all year round. There was no shower curtain so taking a shower without flooding the bathroom was quite a challenge - to be honest the bathroom needs some work generally to bring it up to 21st Century standards. It was also a bit hit-and-miss as to whether I'd get a proper bath towel each day or whether I'd have to make do with a hand towel.

Was only a 10 minute walk into town. Bus stop also close to hotel, in case of rain. They made the refund of the second day's rate reasonably painless!
Filthy, dingy room 26 - to the extent that we had to check whether it had actually been cleaned. Filthy carpet, insects in bathroom, dirty shelf (where you were meant to put your toothbrush! - when I showed the owner, she admitted it was not right, before "sorting" it out with a bit of cold water and toilet paper!!! ), pillows felt rather old. Can't comment on breakfast, as we didn't stay to find out! Wouldn't usually comment on a bad hotel, but felt ashamed that foreign tourists might feel this is representative of the UK. Our advice is: stay in the 4-star Oxford spires across the road - very clean, two-room suite (instead of the one four-bed room at the Victoria), with swimming pool, and £1 less a night.

I don't usually review hotels, but feel that this one has got some very unfair comments. For the price and location it is great, especially when you consider it has plenty of car parking. The rooms were warm even though it was sub zero outside and they had plenty of space as well as being clean. They did have slightly dated decor but nothing worn out. The breakfasts were good and served quickly. I would recommend to friends and if we go to Oxford again, I would use it again.

Staff and that it was clean
It was a bit outdated in its decor

It had a car park which a lot of city centre hotels do not have.It was convenient for the side of the city I was visiting
Cold water tap did not work. Although bar was open it didn't appear to be, had to wait in room until dinner was ready. No information in the room. It's expensive for the type of hotel it is, if I had known I could have stayed across the road for a little bit extra but had better comfort and more facilities. TV didn't work that well, only 2 channels available to watch

Helpful and friendly staff, lovely breakfast, comfortable and peaceful sleep, easy to get to by bus
Not too close to local amenities but there was a sweet shop nearby and in the evening the hotel provides snacks which are highly filling and prove to be excellent value for money.
