Tropikist Beach Hotel

Close to the beach and the minor shops (stalls) its location is perfect.

It has a perfect location with Store Bay and Pigeon Point also nearby.

The location is excellent, travel brochures report 'some' aircraft noise but quite honestly the amount of flights that come into Tobago, this is hardly a problem.

With the airport 5 minutes from the hotel we felt somewhat silly getting a taxi, as literally as soon as we got in we was in the hotel car park.

When you arrive at Crown Point airport, the hotel is literally a 10 min stroll away, so don't waste your money on a taxi.

Next hurdle was the room - I turned my key wondering if the rooms would be as bad as what people had made out - again a lovely surprise when I walked into my room with the most stunning of sea views, a huge queens size bed and a nice bathroom.

We recieved a double upgrade to a deluxe room,a king size bed,large bath and the view was breath taking.

The room we had was huge, had two double beds and a nice bathroom.

The room was massive with a king size bed + a double for two people only, clean and basic but thats all you need, and a view to die for.

We were staying in a standard room, with good facilities on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

With such a choice of restaurants nearby, including the roti huts and other local/cheap food at Store Bay, we only ate at the hotel's restaurant once (apart from breakfast).

After 2 days at the Hilton (The Plantations) before, the Tropikist was not so bad, the difference is only the breakfast, the BAR and the choise of restaurant.

We went all inclusive, breakfast was fine, but you needed to go early to get the best of it, lunch at the beach bar was fine for what you needed, usual fare of burgers, sandwiches etc.

Its a real bar and restaurant with real people in them - and real Caribbean style food and proper cocktails!

Also don’t even think about trying to get served when the barman is sat in the restaurant having his meal, even though he can see you standing and waiting at the bar.

However, anything that had to do with personnel service, ie front desk, breakfast, dinner, bar services, towel/linen services were shoddy and a complete turnoff.

The staff(Natasha/Karlene) at the front desk were very friendly, courteous and displayed excellent customer service skills.

The customer service received from the reception staff was exceptional, we would have happily taken a budget room but having the expensive room was a nice gesture for which we did not have to pay.

The only things that I found nice were the swimming pool, the jacuzzi and the sunset view from the garden.

The swimming pool gorgeous and the jacuzzi was also very pleasant.

The surrounding of the swimming pool is absolutely grand, so is the garden around it and the sea view.

Whilst we were there we had decided to visit Barbados & Grenada for a few days - booked flights & accom from home on PC with LIAT - very cheap and worth seeing as a contrast to Tobago.

The room was kept very clean and tidy all week.

The room was clean, spacious and what a fantastic view!

Staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the food plentiful and enjoyable (Although I could see that the menu could get a little repititive if there for longer than one week).

However, to my suprise the rooms were clean and spacious.

We started leaving the room worse and worse condition each day to see how they would cope, and they left our room spotless overtime.
