Tourist Hotel Kiev - 基輔

The location is pretty good -- it's too far to walk to any tourist attractions, but it's right next to a metro stop and a shopping center, which is convenient.

The Hotel Tourist is the largest hotel in Kyiv at 27 storeys and islocated out of the centre but right next door to the Livoberezhna metro station.

THe hotel is located right next to a metro stop for easy access to the Right Bank and down town.

The room wasn't very big, but had to comfortable single beds, a TV with cable (including one English channel, BBC), and a tiny, old-fashioned bathroom (the bathtub was only half-size and with only a small, hand-held shower head).

The usual small European TV, but the single bed had a spring that stuck out.

The Deluxe room is great; had a seperate living area and two bathrooms.

The breakfast room was very clean and beautifully decorated but the breakfast was already on the table when you enter and consisted of cold meat, cheese, warm orange juice and very stale bread.

The room was full of dark wood which, as it was badly worn, had clearly been there since the hotel opened.

The hotel has 2 restaurants plus a strip bar/sushi bar (this may not be permanent as we had a huge convention of Japanese business people staying at the hotel at the time of our visit).

The food at the Hotel was bad, it was a business trip so we had breakfast and lunch there daily -The breakfast is Ok, instant coffee and plates put out in advance with meat and cheese (how far in advance?

There were no girls in the lobby; and the strip tease club was well away from the restaurants or shops.

Breakfast is included in the meal, the staff is very good and helpful, they will call a taxi for you, give you directions, etc.

They speak English ONLY at the front desk & restaurants.

The reception staff and maids were nice and efficient but I'd give the breakfast a miss and go to the supermarket opposite instead.

There are also a number of services in the hotel itself (Internet cafe, souvenir shop, etc.

This is a traditional Soviet style hotel but it seemed safer than others I've been to with security guards in the foyer and a maid on each floor who looks after the keys.

I had not stayed in Tourist before and was nervous to bring a group to a hotel known locally for its call girls in the lobby and strip tease club.

You can make international calls by purchasing an access code from the international call center (right before the elevators); which you will use this number to access an outside line to call internationally; you must prepay for the minutes.

There was also a small shop, a gym, a bureau de change and a cyber cafe.

The room wasn't terribly stylish, but it was clean and adequately comfortable.
