But if they're going to charge Manhattan luxury hotel prices, they should deliver service to match, and they're not even close.
We're sure the hotel is lovely; but we cancelled our reservation due to lack of disclosure of actual additional fees on the travel websites.
The Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid is the Best of the Best, this location serves its purpose well and the decor is perfect for the adirondacks.
Great location not too far from town and the place itself is beautiful.
Heated underground parking, the rooms beat out the Mirror Lake rooms by a long shot and the property location itself is fine.
The pool is accessed by an underground passage.
They didn't stop the 'grand' at the common areas and great hotel.
Great A+++ room - comfy bed - 2 TV's in our suite, full kitchen, washer/dryer, jacuzzi tub, heated bathroom floors, fireplace, plenty of space.
Our suite had a living room, kitchen, bedroom, balcony, and a bath and a half.
The suite that we had was beautiful, with a full modern kitchen, lounge with fireplace, king-size bedroom and wood-paneled bathroom with a very large corner Jacuzzi tub.
Like all rooms, our one bedroom suite had a galley kitchen, large deck, HDTV 32" flat screen above the living room fireplace, as well as one in the bedroom (this one had a built in DVD player).
Our room was a deluxe 1 bedroom suite with 1.
We ate at the resort restaurants twice, once in the bar area and once in the main restaurant.
We only ate one meal in the restaurant, breakfast on Sunday in the Great Room, but it was excellent, the service very good, and prices on the upper end of reasonable.
A future Canoe Club (on the water beach, water sports area, restaurant, and bar) is supposed to be completed on nearby Lake Placid for guest use by spring 2006 we were told.
The restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was outstanding.
4) Common areas of the hotel were beautiful and the dining room was excellent for lunch and dinner (I had breakfast in the room everyday).

The staff at this hotel were very pleasant and the service was very friendly.
The resort offers a awesome pool, hot tubs, tennis, skating rink, indoor bowling, movie theatre, games room, fitness centre, spa, and hiking trails.
I was so busy w/ skiing and other outdoor activities I didn't take advantage of all the Lodge activities - including movie theater, bowling alley, gym, indoor/outdoor pool, ice-skating rink, etc.
It is a wonderful area with a large outdoor pool and jacuzzi.
Welcoming places I have been to, four computers for perusing the free internet are also available.
The beds were comfortable and spotless with pillow-topped mattresses and excellent pillows.
