If you are looking for an overpriced hotel with underrated service then try the Sheraton.

Compared to the rates of other hotels in the area I would say the Whaler is an amazing condo for an amazing price!

Kaanapali beach is beautiful and long, there are many many hotels along the way and I would choose another if I had to choose all over again (since it costs the same amount).

The Whaler is in a marvelous location, perhaps the best-situated property on Kaanapali beach.

The location is enviable-next to Whaler's Village and many restaurants and resorts on Kaanapali beach.

Kaanapali Beach is great location, and the Whaler isa well placed condo tower (being very close to the great Black Rock snorkeling end of the beach).

We never had to rent a car or try to find a taxi except for to and from the airport.

We always found parking underground, but we never came home after 7pm.

The other bedroom (a hotel-room style "lockoff" which was opened up to make it a suite) was nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed, dressers, and its own bathroom -- very nice!

The bathroom decor could use an update and the king bed in the bedroom is two twin beds put together, but those were small negatives in a suite we were overall very happy with.

The things we really liked about the Whaler were our room with its fun canopy bed, the convenient location, and of course the price.

We had a ground floor (1 bed/2 bath) unit looking at the Black Rock.

It’s a studio with a beautiful canopy bed and full kitchen.

I found the lack of a restaurant onsite inconvenient, especially as only one of the restaurants in Whalers Village is open for breakfast.

There is no restaurant or bar on site, but there are some at the nearby hotels.

We ate breakfast and lunch on our patio almost every day, which was great.

The views of the mountains and ocean were lovely and we ate breakfast and lunch in our room everyday saving loads of money.

I would recommend going into Lahaina for a better meal though as we didn’t go much on the two restaurants we went to nearby with average meals and small servings which annoyed my husband.

The staff was kind and the concierge was very helpful.

The front desk staff were very accommodating about finding us a condo that we liked.

The staff at reception was very nice, as well as at the pool.

While I admit that the Sheraton was more luxurious, it had problems that come with a large hotel (less personal service, filthy pool, hard to find lounge chairs, longer walk to parking/pool/etc.

The grounds of the Whaler are immaculate and the pool and spa are relaxing to hang out by.

I went through the lobby area and out to the pool and beach.

Mexico has them beat with high speed and cheap internet.

While I agree with other reviewers that our oceanview studio (#513 in tower 1) was outdated (plain white walls/ugly flooring & carpet), it was clean and very convenient.

Our studio number 615, perhaps was a bit outdated, however, it was clean and functional.

The staff was kind, our condo room was very clean and the kitchen was updated.

Rooms, hallways, laundry, all very, very clean.

Clean rooms, hotel service style and the choice to dine on your terrace or go out!

    The Whaler isa well placed condo tower and fabulous beach. The location is excellent and maui is soo beautiful. The prices are very reasonable especially compared to the Sheraton and staff is very helpful. Worth looking into Rooms are huge, the kitchen is adequate and clean towels are provided free of charge between 8 a.

    The ABC store there is good for groceries and the Whaler at Ka'anapali Beach is an excellent property. Location is the best and there's a price to pay for that kind of atmosphere. To sum up well definitely be staying at The Whaler again we can get back to Maui one day and staff are very friendly. The water is perfect for swimming, the kitchen is adequate and the food is reasonable and great.

    The mountains were spectacular and the location was perfect. Moreover the decor was very nice and the Whaler has all = the prices were reasonable. The staff was kind and the concierge was very helpful. Our bedroom was huge, the kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the restaurants we ate at there were very good.

    The beach was great and the view from our room was really lovely. At Maui Wave Riders in Lahaina was excellent, staff was very polite and one of the concierges was extremely helpful in booking tours for us. The bathroom was huge, the kitchen was nice and the Whaler pool was nothing fancy.

    A perfect beach, view spectacular and great places to eat right next to the Whaler. Worth the price as many have been updated and the staff are friendly. The King Murphy bed is comfortable and maui mocha coffee is delicious.

    Beautiful beach and great location. Moreover very nice place, old well preserved home and the Whaler has a professional staff. Helpful on the phone, the kitchen was superb and the food at the Tiki Terrace was excellent. Pool was good.
