Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa Tucson - 土桑

Room was in a great location next to the swimming pools, with shade most of the day (very welcome in Tucson in August).

It has a wonderful pool area, staff who are attentive to guest needs and a lovely location next to the Catalina Mountains.

When eventually a cab arrived for me, a friend who also needed to go to the airport offered to share with me.

Luxurious heavenly bed and bathroom with a regular tub with jacuzzi and a separate stall shower.

Room/suite were great - excellent beds and bathroom.

The suite had two balconies overlooking the beautiful Catalina mountains and city lights, a heavenly king bed, down pillows, Jacuzzi tub, wet bar, refrigerator and soon became headquarters to our team.

Our room was a little tired (although it did have new carpet, bed linens and granite countertop in the big bathroom), but we were upgraded to a mountain view room - the view was gorgeous.

The only way they could fix the situation, in my humble opinion, is to either A) remodel the guest rooms to at least be up to Westin standards, or B) charge about $200/night, which is what this resort is worth for a standard guest room.

We heard that meals in the restaurant were a bit pricey, but since this was a business convention we only had one meal there, a breakfast buffet, which was priced comparably to other luxury properties.

The J Bar next door is a nice place to go for a variety of Southwestern and Latin cuisine with great margaritas.

Our last morning we grabbed a bagel and juice at the snack bar because the restaurant prices were ridiculous if you just wanted a bagel and juice.

Breakfast at the "least expensive" restaurant was $19 for one.

Service at the poolside bar was excellent as was the service at The Desert Garden Restaurant (the hotel's main restaurant with a wonderful mountain view).

The valets were very personable and remembered us as we picked up and returned car each day, the front desk staff was always courteous and concierge folks were great about drawing maps and making recommendations.

Our only complaint was subpar service on several occasions, mostly from the front desk staff.

The location is good in terms of affording views of the city, pROS: The hotel lobby is lovely and the staff didn't know to describe the services offered.

The pool area was nice looking, the service at the hotel was excellent all the way through and front desk clerk was very helpful.

The pool bar food is also very good and the spa is convenient.

The pool was a fair distance from the building we were in (although no where near as far as the fitness center).

It was also conveniently close to the lobby and pool, but a hike to the health club and club house for golf.

The rooms were immaculate, very clean and everything was in place.

Staff is super helpful and the room is clean.

Room was clean, large and the shower pressure was OK.

The staff were all very pleasant and attentive, and the room was spacious and clean.

The room was clean (except for a stray M&M left on the floor!
