Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta Saint Julian's - St Julians

This 5 star hotel is without doubt the best in Malta and the facilites are being regulary improved to cater for every need, it is located on it's own peninsular which makes it a perfect location to relax and enjoy water sports.

Frequent public buses to/from the nearby stop made travel into Valletta easy, the location of the hotel is excellent and the staff is truly friendly.

Great location just next to the sea with nice sea views from the balcony.

They even got us a driver from the airport to the hotel at 1AM for cheaper than a regular (not as nice) taxi.

We got a taxi, prepaid in airport to the hotel (9ML).

The bay-view suites are very modern -consisting of a bedroom, living room (with sofa bed), kitchen area, bathroom, and seperate shower room- and finished to a very high standard.

I booked my room over the telephone for £72, for that we got an oversized double room with 2 queen beds, made up in the usual Westin Heavenly Bed manner, and beautifully furnished, a splendind bathroom and a balcony looking out to sea.

On arrival at the hotel check in was easy and quick and the receptionist showed us a suite to upgrade to in the new block, which we turned down as there was only one double bed and a sofa bed, so we stayed in first room with two large beds.

We stayed in a Luxury bay suite which has a separate bed, 2 bathroom, kitchen/lounge area.

We found the check in very easy and professional and were courteously shown to our suite consisting of a king bedroom and adjoining seperate parlour with guest bed for our daughter.

Having eaten in the lobby bar, and disgusted with the food there, I decided to try the terrace restaurant for lunch as I felt like something more substantial as my preference is to eat my largest meal at lunch time.

Lobby Bar is very nice, good buffet breakfasts and Italian restaurant is good for a first night but the dining at the Hilton is better.

The hotel is clean and beautiful, the rooms real 5 star level, the food in the restaurants was true Mediterranean cuisine at very reasonable prices ; we all know hotels are normally more expnsive, but surprisingly not here.

Marble floors, contemporary furnishings: leather sofas, surround sound system, three plasma tv's, living room, breakfast bar, dining room.

The restaurants and lobby lounge are excellent, however room service is too expensive, a club sandwich was 2 lira more in room service than in the lobby bar and a surcharge of 1 lira per person is applied.

The concierge service and reception staff are excellent.

Every room maid we passed called 'Good Morning' to us as we went along the corridors, and all the concierge, reception and bar staff were wonderfully polite, chatty and helpful.

In fact the service across the hotel was brilliant and all staff were very helpful especially the Concierge called George.

Our little boy who is 3 was treated liked royalty in the restaurant in the morning and by the staff in reception/concierge area.

The hotel lobby, the gym, spa, breakfast, and service was good.

The facilities of the hotel are first class and I only wished there were more time to enjoy the indoor/outdoor pool, gym, sauna or steam room.

The facilities that included the outdoor& indoor pool and jaccuzzis, tennis courts, and the fantastic gym were all great attributes.

Bathroom were spotless, the curtains were cheap and the food was good.

If you are offered this I would recommend taking it as the views are breathtaking, with the rooms being well funished and very clean.

Our standard room was a very good size, clean, modern, quiet and generally excellent.

The room was spacious well airconditioned and very clean.

I still think back to how nice the hotel was; friendly staff, clean room with a view, and a fantastic breakfast spread included.
