Overall this hotel is not bad but does offer much less value for your money than the newer hotels in the old town area.
The hotel is not cheap and was the worst value of the hotels we stayed in Germany.
Beautiful view and the quality of the hotel as great.
The other advantage is its vicinity to the Dresden Town Center and the design of the hotel is excellent.
Good location - city center easily reachable by foot, the hotel is just a short walk from the old centre of Dresden so well located.

It is only a 5 Euro (depending on traffic) cab ride from the Dresden Neustadt train station.
I would expect lots of German bus tour groups there, especially on the weekends, with the re-dedication of the Frauen Kirche in 2006.
Bedroom was classically appointed, but a little bit outdated and bedding was miles away from Westin's signature "Heavenly Bed", though still comfortable.

At a rate of >200 Euros/night, I didn't expect to pay extra for the rollaway bed and breakfast; other stops on our trip were of similar quality but better value.
We had 3 rooms (my mother had her own room and we also had 2 triples) which were all next to each other on the same floor.
Breakfast was sumptous and served in a vast airy restaurant with garden and river views.
I recommend to have breakfast at the a la carte restaurant which is much nicer and offers much better service.
The hotel restaurant is excellent, and the breakfast buffet with champagne and fresh salmon is outstanding.
The self service breakfast in the main dining room is excellent - certainly there were a lot of bus parties passing through but the space is large and expandable to coped fine.

The spa facilities were relaxing after an energetic day of sightseeing and the hotel was nice.

Rooms are clean, breakfast is enough good.
