This legendary spot has been frequented by every sitting American president since Herbert Hoover. It's fairy-tale like and has an incredible lobby. The staff is accommodating and treats you like royalty. The room quality varies greatly, though, from great to subpar. There are renovations underway along with a Guerlain spa being added.

The historic four-star Waldorf Astoria comprises an entire city block between Park and Lexington Avenues and 49th and 50th Streets, hence featuring a convenient location in the heart of midtown Manhattan, within steps away to Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Madison and Fifth Avenues.

On the vast premises you will find business area for up to 100 persons, 40 modern banquet rooms for up to 1,500 persons and fashionable Guerlain spa with body and facial treatments.

Peacock Alley restaurant in the main lobby features a bar, a spacious lounge, and a private dining salon. It serves breakfast, an a la carte lunch menu, dinner, and a Sunday brunch. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are well appointed on the surface and the beds are extremely comfortable.
The decor was superb and i thought the lobby was breathtakingly beautiful.
Breakfast was typical continental fare--bagels.

Getting there

From the Triboro Bridge take FDR Drive South to Exit 10, 49th Street and follow signs to Park Avenue afterwards turn right on 50th Street to motor entrance.

From the George Washington Bridge take West Side Highway South to 57th Street and follow signs to 11th Avenue and 50th Street accordingly.

From the Lincoln Tunnel turn left on 42nd Street to 10th Avenue and then to 50th Street.

From LaGuardia Airport follow signs for Grand Central Parkway West and the Triboro bridge into Manhattanand it will take approximately 40 minutes to get to the hotel.

From JFK Airport follow signs for Van Wyck Expressway North and Long Island Expressway (LIE) West towards Queens/Midtown Tunnel and Park Avenue accordingly. It will take approximately 1 hour to reach the hotel.

The location is great and hotel easy to get to. Im not sure the introduction of starbucks in the building is a good idea generally and our room had a huge square cut out in the ceiling.

Location excellent and glorious old hotel. A beautiful historic building, reasonable rate and all the staff we met were friendly. The bed was very comfortable, the private entrance/elevators were an absolute necessity and the food was superb.

Perfect location and beautiful decor. Good service and price, room was spacious. The staff were fantastic in helping the computers were down for two days and the waiters were attentive to our needs. Non alcoholic beverages were comped, facilities were excellent.
