Swan Hotel Lavenham

Absolutely charming location and super food.

The location is exellent for walking around Lavenham.

The location in the beautiful Lavenham is perfect and the hotel is quite charming.

Absolutely charming location and lovely little town.

Whilst Lavenham itself is one of the most charming villages in Essex, the Swan seems to be a magnetic attraction for anyone over 70 wishing to take tea before getting back on the bus.

Our room was beautiful, with a super kingsize bed (I beleive all rooms have these), a luxurious and very large bathroom, as well as a separate dressing room, where we had a walk-in wardrobe, complimentary bathrobes and an iron and ironing board.

The room was very clean with comfortable bed and spacous bathroom.

Although we stayed in one of the smaller rooms, the room was full of character, beds were really comfortable and the room was clean.

Stayed in ground floor room (48) at back of hotel with high cielings and 4-poster bed.

Even then, when it was my word against that of the cleaner they didn't offer to give us fresh towels, tea and coffee (which is all we really wanted - we can make the bed ourselves).

Breakfast was very good (hot food, cooked to order with a small fruit/patisserie buffet) and took place in the restaurant, under wooden beams with a little background music.

Our bedroom was pleasant, the Adnams real ale in the old bar was the best I have ever tasted and the breakfast was superb.

We ate in the Great House Hotel, which was some of the best French food I've ever had (menu looked good at the Swan restaurant, though).

We ate in the hotels restaurant which is again a delightful room.

There is a nice selection of snacks and sandwiches of which you can choose to have either in the lounge, the bar or in the garden.

The staff seemed happy to work there and the service was very good.

I spoke to reception again and the woman told me the cleaning staff had gone home now, and they'd not serviced my room as I'd put up the "Do not disturb" sign.

All the hotel staff we met were friendly, the service was very good and the room was nicely furnished.

Excellent location & quality of service provided, the waiting staff were also professional and attentive, the bathrooms were clean and modern.

In the absence of lifts (or any offer of assistance with the luggage) this made for some difficulty, and people travelling with elderly or infirm relatives should beware.

Parking is difficult as the hotel car park is very small.

Location perfect right in the centre of lavenham, the hotel also has a lovely garden area you can sit in the warmer weather and the Swan is undoubtedly a very historic building.

The room was clean, breakfast was super and dinner was well cooked.

We had 3 of the rooms on the ground floor all of which were excellent, clean,charming,comfortable and a joy to stay in.

The service was excellent, our bedroom was very clean and the food was fantastic as well.

Also terrible black mould on bathroom tile grouting, altho rest of bathroom very clean.

They eventually begrudgingly moved us to another room (making it clear we were really inconveniencing them).
