  The location is not ideal, it's in the middle of the business district so there isn't much around, but taxis never cost us more than 100 baht to get anywhere. We reserved the Indulgence Package, which included a car to and from the airport, two massages, dinner at the Celedan, and daily breakfasts - it really was fantastic. We were greeted at the airport at 7am with a driver and bottles of water and they upgraded our room to a larger suite which was available when we checked in (around 8am). As others have mentioned, the breakfast buffet is spectacular - so many choices! Most of the hotel guests seemed to be there on business (we were on our honeymoon), so we did feel a little silly in our shorts and sneakers during the day, but none of the staff looked at us any differently. Fresh fruit and truffles were delivered to our room daily - definitely a plus! As others have mentioned, there was some construction, however we never noticed it when we were in our room.

  Apparently, the spa was close to the construction area and they were afraid it would be too noisy.

  We had a pretty much perfect stay at the Sukhothai, taking advantage of the Executive package which provided an Exec suite, free airport limo transfers, breakfast and internet access. We worked hard at trying to find fault with the wonderful suite and the worst we could find was that the fittings that secure the heavy drapes when open were nearly coming out of the wall. The location is not as convenient as other hotels in this city for certain tourist activities and shopping, but these are all a short taxi ride away, and the Skytrain is walking distance, albeit a non-trivial walk if the heat and humidity bother you. Other than that, we enjoyed possibly the most comprehensive breakfast buffet we have seen anywhere (and we have seen quite a few), excellent food at Celadon (for a price, but in keeping with the standard and the ambience of this restaurant - and yes, you can get equally tasty food for a fraction of the price elsewhere in this foodie paradise of a city), the weekend chocolate buffet (yum), and, the surprise highlight: dinner at the Pool Terrace Cafe, which looked like an informal poolside cafe, but offered service and food of the same high standard as the pricier venues. If you want to sample some of the offerings from next-door La Scala, but, I presume, without the overheads, the Pool Cafe is hard to beat. The only "problem" with this hotel was getting a reservation in the first place. I managed to book via the LHW website in the end, but even then, obtaining instructions for airport pickup, and making a reservation at Celadon in advance were a mission: in the end, faxing the hotel directly worked.

  We were in the Executive Suite which was gorgeous! We had dinner in Celadon and La Scala and both restaurants were soooo good. We got the hotel limousine from and to the airport which was worth every penny we paid for it.

  First, the hotel car driver turned up at the wrong entrance hall at the airport – got my name wrong on the sign (these things happen).

  Got to the hotel, the surly front desk woman was the rudest I have ever come across in Bangkok – no land of smiles here! I asked for a non-smoking room – I got a smoking room. After waiting 15 minutes, a surly woman turned up to escort me to a new room. The room was tired (stains on the carpet and walls, plus a musty smell were nice touches).

  It has a nice big pool and the gym is pretty nice which are positives yet I don't understand why the sauna in the health club can only fit 3 people max.

  1) You will have to wait quite awhile to get a taxi to go somewhere else from the hotel, I have waited on average 5 to 10 minutes for one taxi because the hotel is situated in a busy commercial district in constant traffic jams. If you do not take the taxi, you can take the Skytrain but it will take you 15-20 mins to walk to the nearest Skytrain station. The rooms especially those carpets are getting so worn down. I also found that the room is quite small compare to similar hotels in Bangkok.

  I had a "standard" room, which was spacious, with every possible amenity and meticulous attention to those little details that make for real comfort. There were orchids and other flowers in both the bathroom and bedroom, everything was spotless, the teak floors in the bathroom shone, the bed was like a cloud, the furnishings were luxurious in an understated way. Two large windows overlooked a lovely garden. I planned to spend the afternoon by the pool, but was sidetracked in the lobby by an unbelievable tea-time "chocolate" buffet, served every weekend. Afterwards, I could barely breathe, but actually carried treats away to my room for later. I also had a wonderful massage at the excellent spa. The level of customer service at this hotel was also outstanding.

  My first trip to Bangkok and I researched via Trip Advisor, noting especially the hotel location and trying to sense something special. It is a breeze to walk to public transportation of all sorts, freeing one from constant taxi service. Fabulous pool (I swam every morning for a mile) and good restaurant choices are at the hotel and also within walking distance. The room was well laid out, with the bathroom (huge tub!

  Our room was well appointed with warm wood floors, a cozy chaise and a very comfortable bed. The tile work above the bed and in the shower/toilet areas was quite impressive and added a nice texture to the room. Ample amounts of bottled water were provided and the housekeeping staff was quick to bring more when we requested it. The highlight of our stay was the fitness center. I am training for a marathon and was dreading the long run on a treadmill, but I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the gym to find a trainer there to greet me with a towel, headphones and water. We had breakfast at the Colonade restaurant--a large buffet with western and asian selections. We also ate at the much-acclaimed Celadon restaurant for dinner and found it to be very good and much more reasonable than our breakfast. Overall, the staff was friendly and provided us good advice about taxis and the 500 baht pp airport tax!
