Royal York Hotel - 约克

Located in a beautiful city and the atmosphere of the hotel & location were ideal for a relaxing weekend break.

The location is excellent and close to railway station for convenience.

The location was excellent, 5 minutes from the centre of York and next to the railway station.

The Royal is an excellent base for exploring York as pretty much everything can be reached easily on foot.

One would not wish to walk bare foot on the carpet.

One time we were upgraded to a suit for free-- large "office" area with a great old desk, seperate toilet/bidet room, seperate shower and tub rooms, HUGE, sumptuous bed and TWO closets.

Our stay was wonderful - the room was huge -- a true kingsize bed that was comfortable, a separate sitting area with comfortable seating, and a bathroom that was magnificent -- very modern and most importantly immaculately clean.

Suzanne was very helpful and we had a lovely room very boutique hotel in style, enormous bathroom and a great 6ft bed, i thought it was too soft but hubby loved it, i slept well.

Another problem was that as we did not request a double bed, but simply a room for two adults titled Mr and Mrs we were given a room with 2 single beds.

Room was nicely decorated and had adequate facilites but was very hot and bed was diabolical condition (felt like sleeping on a water bed!

The deal we had booked included a meal in the restaurant which we took the first night, I have to say the food was first class, and this was followed up the next morning with a great breakfast selection.

The breakfasts were excellent and as it was such a cold weekend we decided to stay in the hotel and eat in the hotel restaurant both evenings.

Restaurant service was extremely slow at both breakfast and dinner, and food quality was uneven (some people in the party complained of tepid soup).

We chose not to dine in the restaurant, however breakfast was the only saving grace as the food was great.

We can highly recommend " eat @ ate o'clock" restaurant, great food!

Service and staff are top notch as well and the location (adjoining York train station) is hard to beat if you're coming in by rail.

Also lovely staff, hot rooms and a excellent breakfast buffet service.

We were alarmed to find a letter in our room notifying us of all night roadworks outside our room but reception staff were very helpful and confirmed with the workers that this would not be the case at the weekend.

We made use of the gymnasium - the pool and sauna were very pleasant, but the gym area was quite small and it was not much fun training on a running machine facing a plain wall.

The annoying things were that you have to pay for car parking and that they charge £2.

Best part for us though was the pool, steam room and spa.

We were put in a huge corner room on the 3rd floor (ideal as we had a travel cot to put up) which was nicely decorated and spotless clean.

The room overlooked the post office depot, not the best view but other than that it was very clean, tidy and well equipped.

I think I described the room as being like a travelodge but I now take that back because any travelodge I have ever stayed in has been clean and fresh and well exceeded the standard of our first room.

The locker room (men's) was clean, but typically had some lockers that weren't working.
