I was offered a room with nice views of downtown. The design was modern. The location of the hotel was central, very close to the restaurant, a shop and Birmingham for family reasons. I had coffee at Edgar's Bakery, located within 5 minutes walk.

The Redmont is a Historic hotel and is in good condition, especially for it's age. The staff was excellent! Our room was clean. The location is close to the McWane Science Center for kids, which was one of the reason for our trip. So, for us the location was very good. It was also, only about 10 minutes from the Birmingham Zoo. There were not a lot of good places to eat nearby, or not that I found. But that doesn't pertain directly to the hotel. Overall fair value for the price and location.

The location was about all we liked. Booked two rooms for one night. Hotel is in need of an input of dollars. Staff at front desk was barely civil to customers. Continental Breakfast is a joke. Bartender on the roof bar was nice but wouldn't recommend a stay here and will not stay again.

Virginia
Central location, excellent place for discovering Birmingham. From the bus stop 5 minutes on foot. Spotless room with gorgeous view of the downtown.

The hotel has clearly fallen on hard times. The smell, the number or staff, the slow service, the utter lack of amenities, this and so much more will have me warning other Birmingham-bound business travelers to stay away.
