The Prince is Melbourne’s best-known “design” hotel. The small lobby is appropriately dramatic and the rooms are a mix of the original pub’s proportions, natural materials and a pared-back aesthetic. The larger rooms and suites have key pieces of vintage modernist furniture. Onsite facilities are among the city’s most mentioned: Circa Restaurant, the Aurora day spa, bars, band rooms and even a wine shop downstairs. Be prepared for nightclub noise if you’re staying over a weekend.

Overview

The Prince hotel, in the edgy and bohemian St Kilda district of Melbourne, simply oozes cool from the moment that guests cab pulls up outside its art deco façade.

It’s simply decorated communal spaces are moody and sophisticated, the rooms are stylish and comfortable and the Aurora Day Spa offers one of Victoria’s most luxurious and relaxing experiences.

A glass roofed atrium set with eclectic designer furniture is the home of our Melbourne restaurant's main dining room, complete with a vertical kitchen garden. With three private dining rooms, each with balconies overlooking Fitzroy Street and the bay, Circa provides the best fine dining in Melbourne. The dining rooms are dramatically different from one another with individual style and decor from local furniture designers, retailers, artists and stylists.

Head Chef Jake Nicolson’s elegant and innovative dishes focus on the season's freshest produce. The rooftop deck features his kitchen garden with library-like shelves stocked with an assortment of fresh herbs and produce. His new menu offers more small plates and shared dishes and a world-class wine menu to match.

Small water views was delightful, the staff were excellent and dinner reservations made for Stokehouse - had best table in the restaurant.

Great location and facilities, tram stop 1 min from the front door, quite near the beach. I loved the design and the venue was wonderful for the wedding we attended. The staff were excellent, the rooms were clean and the restaurant had a lovely bright open feel to and the food was good.

Good location for trams to city, next store there is a great cafe and offers a more home like experience than a large chain hotel of similar standard. The prices too are reasonable and the staff is nice. The rooms are gorgeous, the main pub bar is huge and one of the best meals I have ever had.
