Michelangelo Hotel Johannesburg - 约翰内斯堡

The location is perfect - the hotel is right in Nelson Mandela Square which is alive with cafes and people and is surrounded by probably the best shopping I've seen in a while (especially with the aussie dollar against the rand!

The reason why I am giving this hotel an above average rating is not because of how the hotel and its service is but because of its superb location.

The location is wonderful as it connects to the Sandton Shopping Centre and Mandella Square.

The staff arranged a couple of taxi's for us for a day trip to Soweto and transport to the airport.

We also visited the Rosebank Sunday rooftop markets with a taxi waiting for us, which is a good option for arts and crafts stuff.

We were given a huge suite with a separate dining and living area, a full bathroom with two sinks, a large tub and separate shower and another half bath.

The bathroom is large, with a separate shower, bath, and closed of toilet, and single vanity.

The room service is good, they prepare your bed at night and you have your own coffee maker in the room.

The rooms were very nicely decorated and we had a suite facing the square.

The rooms are spacious and well equipped, there was a nice complimentary small bottle of champagne with a fruit basket delivered to my room soon after I arrived.

Only used hotel restaurant for very good breakfasts as there was good choice of restaurants in adjacent Sandton Mall.

Breakfast was served in the lounge area next to the restaurant.

We ate at the restuarnt for breakfast a couple of times and had the worlds best omelette there, actually the food right through Sth Africa was really impressive.

La cuisine n’était pas aussi bonne que dans d’autres hôtels de cette catégorie mais la place Nelson Mandela, en face, dispose de très bons restaurants, y compris le délicieux Butchers Arms.

The hotel is always spotless and the food in the restaurants and room service is of the highest standard.

Other reviews made me wary of service but we had top quality responses from reception, baggage handling and concierge.

The friendly staff and exceptional service make it a pleasure to stay.

The two level suite was to die for and the front desk staff and all other staff were exceptionally helpful.

Check-in/Check-out and Concierge staff are superb and very helpful.

Brilliant room and a 24hour spa (sauna/steamroom) with a shallow pool.

The hotel facilities were good - a nice inside heated pool, a half decent gym, a choice of restaurants and a good concerierge desk for booking tours, taxis etc.

As we approached the elevators we admired the huge goldfish in the lobby pond.

Anyhow, check-in was a breeze, the room was big, clean, lots of light, etc.
