The location is great, the hotel is located in the middle of the historic district and staff is very pleasant.

The Lodge Alley Inn has the best location in Charleston.

It is a shame because it is a beautiful property in a beautiful location.

You cannot beat the service, you cannot beat the location, and you certainly cannot beat the experience.

We did rent one the last day for a plantation trip and figured it was cheaper than the cab to the airport.

We had a studio room facing the courtyard with a queen bed , living room, med.

Be very specific in the style of room you want, more so that a studio, 1 or 2 bedroom (ie they offer one-level or two-level rooms, some have fireplaces, some don't have a full kitchen, etc).

Sadly, room #302 was booked after that night, so we did not have the option of switching rooms permanently to the more comfortable bed.

I have a heart condition and no one told us most of the one bedroom with kitchen are lofts with bed and bath on second floor with spiral stairs.

Our room was also much larger than an average hotel room, with a separate bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom.

My only complaint is the lack of an in restaurant for breakfast.

The hotel has valet service and a great restaurant called the High Cotton on the property with a jazz bar also daily in the study at 4 pm sharp until 5 pm the hotel serves fresh cookies and sherry which we both got hooked on.

Right across the street there is a subway for the budget traveler, and next to the resort there is a five star restaurant called the High Cotton where you can expect to spend $100 or more on a meal for the luxourious traveler.

The front desk staff and concierge were very friendly and helpful.

When we arrived the front desk staff were nasty and denied we had reservations, which I proved we did.

The only gripe I have is, the parking situation.

We put our car in the valet parking and didn't have to get it back out again for our week long stay.

We arrived pulling a boat, and parking in downtown Charleston is an issue!
