      As a result, there have been improvements in areas such as the general cleanliness of the rooms and the quality of toiletries in the bathrooms.

      However, having failed to get a response for 3 days, I eventually rang and booked a room for one night.

      I also noticed on checking in that we appeared to be the only room booking for that night.

      In the past, the Lighthouse Inn might not have had the best rooms or the best food, but it had atmosphere and character.

      The room was £52 which is reasonable in the area.

      While the rooms have always been fairly basic, there has traditionally been a great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant downstairs, the breakfast has been very good and the views over the Channel are impressive.

      In the past, the car park has always been full and the bar and restaurant have been bustling.

      Having previously booked a table for dinner (in the past, dinner reservations were essential), we sat through a mediocre meal, which was a long way from the home cooked meals that we had previously experienced in this restaurant.

      Reasonable food, although the restaurant and pub totally lacked atmosphere - it was a bit slaughtered lamb.

      However, despite it being a Friday night, the car park was largely empty and there were no more than 15 people in the restaurant.

        Comfortable bed, lovely evening meal.

        Vans parked outside restaurant/breakfast rooms obscured view to sea, the place is a bit dated.

        Clean room, an excellent english breakfast and good parking facilities.

        Restaurant badly needs sprucing up to match up to the lovely location, the Hotel is a little tired.

        The location is lovely and handy for the channel ferry - about 10 mins. Also the views from the hotel are magnificent and a real country inn not a square box. Nearby Folkestone is unfortunately very tired and staff is hospitable and pleasant. Room good size.

        Good location on cliff tops and we stayed for 1 night on our way to an early dover ferry. The setting was beautiful, for the price that I paid I was very pleased and staff were more than helpful. Rooms were very well appointed, towels were very clean and drinks were quite expensive.

        Service was a bit ad hoc - we arrived there was just the one person serving in the bar, menu was poor.

        Its quiet location and as well as 's proximity to Dover/Folkstone Channel ferries. I think would be a good hotel, the rooms are nice and clean, a free meal so cant really complain.

        Location superb, received a warm welcome and good building. In addition staff were friendly and room was excellent. Evening meal was wonderful.

        The location is absolutely perfect, nice setting on top of a cliff and the only thing i can say is the bed was comfortable.

        Nice view from our room and overall good value for money. In addition the staff were very freindly and the bed was tiny. The food was excellent.
