Hotel Langham, Auckland - 奥克兰

The only downside is the hotel's location, at the slghtly run-down top end of Queen Street, some 30 minutes walk from the waterfront.

As other reviews stated the hotel is slightly out of the city centre but I see this as a plus point, other hotels in Auckland tend to have the noise and the bustle associated with their central location.

She also gave all the information about the different rooms and location of the hotel and parking so I had no problems finding the hotel.

We had a hire car so getting around was no problem (and the valet parking was great), but if you are without your own transport you'll find yourself taking a lot of taxis or doing a great deal of walking to get down to places like Viaduct Harbour.

Airport transfers are available in one of the hotel's BMW 7 Series limousines for $65NZD (the same price as a cab).

I was subsequently moved to a club room (upgraded from executive, thanks once again to the hotel) which was even better - flat screen TV, large bed, plush pillows, and even more amenities in the bathroom.

They have done a lot of work on the rooms but have let themselves down seriously in the bathrooms which are pokey, shower over bath and would be what you would expect in a three star hotel, not a five star hotel.

Can't rate the food in the main restaurant as we didn't bother with eating in, but the complimentary continental breakfast in the "Club lounge" was perfectly nice.

Breakfast in the restaurant appeared to be a disorganised affair but light meals in the lounge were tasty and satisfying.

The one occasion we ate in the restaurant the food and service was good though the actual restaurant design doesn't lend itself to intimate dining as it's a large characterless room which we didn’t like.

In addition room size is fine, a delicious afternoon tea in the bar friends say that the restaurant is one of the best in Auckland and the plans for the spa look wonderful.

The hotel is very nice- reception staff were pleasant and helpful and the concierge was very good (especially with road directions!

Staff at reception and concierge were excellent - friendly, helpful and courteous.

Every staff member I talked to provided exceptional service, from the receptionist down to a maintenance man in the hallway who gave me directions!

We went instead to use the pool facilities which are in need of an upgrade.

The hotel runs a free shuttle to the downtown area (central business distric) every half of hour.

The shuttle takes 10 minutes, but may be longer if traffic is heavier.

There is also a PC for those without a laptop.

Otherwise, the Langham is an excellent hotel, the rooms are clean, luxurious, amenities are excellent.
