Jefferson Hotel Richmond - 里士满

Unfortunately, it is not situated in the best location, for beauty, parking or safety.

Location: I really like the location although there are some seedy parts nearby- it is still preferrable to Broad St.

The location is somewhat distant from Richmond’s major attractions, but I felt that the service, charm and history made up for this.

Also, I like the history of the hotel and location.

The only thing that perhaps may be considered a downside to some, is the location.

Our room, a studio suite, featured a small but nice bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination.

Our room: A marble tile floor greeted us in our private foyer which led into a huge, corner suite; beautiful cherrywood furniture and a king size bed that was double sheeted and a separate sitting area with sofa and two chairs completed the room.

The suite had only one bathroom – that’s not a complaint, but a more modern building would likely have had a half bath in such a room.

The size of this suite is the size of a one bedroom apartment.

When traveling we really only expect a "chain" hotel room to be affordable, clean and comfortable, really not much more than "a bed and a shower" for the night.

The room assigned was not ready, so we were assigned a better room and found an envelope under the door the next morning apologizing for the problem and enclosing two tickets for breakfast for two at the 5 diamond restaurant.

The restaurant (I had breakfast) was also A+.

Also if you are up for breakfast the restaurant in the hotel is great.

We had breakfast in the main restaurant LeMaire, friends joining us.

We had the buffet breakfast at the hotel's Lemaire restaurant and it was fine, but truly nothing teribbly special.

The service is impeccable from the front desk staff to the concierge and housekeeping.

The bellman was indeed a character and the history of the hotel interesting - We enjoyed his top rate service-- The front desk staff were equally friendly and very helpful.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is extremely helpful -- everyone from the person that greets you at your car, to the concierge, to the room service staff.

The fitness center was nicely equipped and the heated pool looked fabulous although I didn't get to enjoy it.

Their parking is secure (but remember $$) but the shuttle is free!

While he (per his custom when travelling) enjoyed the gym, I escaped to the pool, which I had exclusively to myself (amazingly) for an hour of solitude, wonderful swimming, and then reading the NYT at the table (because I could not bear to leave!

Bathrobes, minibar, wireless Internet, florist, business center, magnificent 1895-1905 architecture, Mobil 5-star, AAA 5-diamond.

The room was clean - despite one nasty bug on the wall.

The rooms are so large and clean, and very elegant.

The staff could not have been more pleasant, the rooms are so large and clean, the food is great.

In addition staff is extremely helpful and the rooms are clean.

Room 511 was VERY spacious and well-appointed and clean.
