This is an amazingly low price considering that lesser hotels were charging upwards of $35>$45!
We have just spent 5 days at this hotel, and thought it was excellent value.
There are only 5 floors & you feel like you have booked a hotel that should rate a $400 a nite price!
We didn't want to spend tons of money, but wanted a nice hotel with charm and character.
Great out of the way location just west of Van Ness, quiet but close to major E-W bus lines and downtown loop.
The staff was very accomodating, and the location really worked for us.
This is a beautiful little hotel in a great location in san Francisco.
A short taxi/bus ride into the city, walkable if you're feeling up to it (not so bad on the way in, uphill on the way back!
They offer a complimentary taxi voucher for early mornings.
My son's room had a canopy bed and a very large bathroom with an antique footed tub.
Our room (a junior suite) had plenty of light, fireplace, sofa, canopy bed and a very large bathroom.
The room was groovy, with four poster bed, massive windows offering a view over the city (not as far as the sea), and an overall friendly feel to the place.
No air conditioning, room smelled funny and I don't think the cover on the bed has been changed since the day the hotel opened.
The staff were extremely courteous and helpful, the rooms were huge (we also had a one0bedroom suite on the 4th floor), and the service was excellent.
Also, as of early Feb when I was there, the bar and restaurant were being renovated, but the complimentary continental breakfast was first rate with good coffee.
Currently no bar or restaurant but Bells Market 1.
One was across from the elevator & near the bar & restaurant.
The bar and restaurant were not open when we were there, so we look forward to returning when they reopen, which we were told by management should be in three months or so.
I believe the hotel was taken over by new owners last year, who have changed the bar and restaurant.
We had just drove from LA to San Francisco on Monday and were greeted with a freindly smile from the service staff who offerd valet parking.
When I walked in the front desk staff were very helpful, and the place looked like it had lots of character.
The Hotel itself looks lovely from the website, but the customer service upon making my reservations was awful!
The free wine and hors'd'ouvres offered between 4 and 6pm in the lobby is a nice treat.
We were able to find street parking within 2 blocks of the hotel every night.
Remember that there is tax on the parking rate & it was $22.
Wi-Fi is Hotspots (need subscription) but Starbucks is only a few blocks away if you are T-mobile customer.
My room on the fourth floor, was quiet, clean, functional and had a great view looking southeast.
Great staff, charming Victorian style rooms, very clean.
4 days later, 4 more calls and I'm still waiting for them to clean and check the room.
The shower curtain was orange around the hem, not white and pristine, so I had to put the curtain on the outside of the clawfut tub.
