The Grand Mayan Acapulco Wyndham Resort

One drawback for the Grand Mayan is the isolated location.

After having a bad experience at an RCI location in a different country, I was terrified to go through RCI again.

The hotel makes good use of the fact that guests are essentially prisoners of the location.

We used the Taxi services by Roberto Alarcon, he picked us from the airport, he was on time, took us on a city tour and also he took us to different resuarants and took us one time to downtown.

Resort arranged taxi service from the airport---driver took care of us.

The bedroom had a soaking tub, and the bathroom had a separate tiled shower, a large vanity with two sinks, and a toilet in a separate room.

Then in the living room area there were 2 more sofa beds, each having a trundle style bed that could be used for sleeping also.

Our suite was fabulous: two large bedrooms and bathrooms, and one large living/dining/kitchen area.

The room had a king size bed with a sofa that made into a bed, but not the uncomfortable hide-a-way kind.

We originally had a 2 bedroom suite at the MP but since that building has been tore down they gave us 2 one bedroom suites at the GM.

We ate breakfast and lunch in or at the pool and dinner out at the restaurants at the Sea Gardens and the Grand and we did have room service a few times.

Food was decent overall, but best at the poolside restaurants (skip the crepes in the Mondo restaurant as these were the worse we've ever tasted!

We didn't eat at any of the restaurants and ate most meals in our room.

Can easily seat 7 for meals at the kitchen bar (3) and seperate dining room table (4).

The food is all very good, but you will be glad you have the flexibility to spend your dining dollars at local restaurants where you can experience the real local culture.

The taxi service is regulated so there is a set rate for these services (it was $20 for private taxi and $16 for shuttle van) and city taxi's are not permitted to give you a lower rate and to some degree are restricted from going to the airport.

Front desk staff kept our hopes up for an ocean view upgrade, asking us to check everyday for availability---it never happened.

Service staff were efficient and responsive.

I wish I would have known about the whole area by the spa for use (as guests of owners) we could have used the sauna and jacuzzi anytime.

We also got a fitness center/spa package for 5 days.

The sauna and jacuzzi on the women's side are spectacular.

Never had to wait to use a PC in the cyber cafe.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

The rooms were dated, but clean and well maintained.

The rooms were very clean a service two times a day was great.

The room is nice, clean, big compared to other resorts we stayed in.
