Located in the centre of Christchurch, the George is a luxury hotel renowned for high-class services and award winning restaurants. The George Christchurch was completely redesigned in 2009. The hotel overlooks gorgeous Hagley Park and river Avon, with the most important attractions being just a stone’s throw away.

The George houses two stunning restaurants: 50 on Park Restaurant and Bar, and Pescatore with enchanting view of over the Hagley Park. Refined atmosphere, contemporary design and delicious cooking of Andrew Brown and his team place these restaurants among New Zealand’s best dining options.

The rooms were wonderfully quiet and sound proffed from the hallways and street, location was great, the hotel staff were very polite and helpfull. The service provided was excellent and very special thanks to the concierge, Mark, helped made a romantic proposal possible. The bathroom was large, our meal in the restaurant was very good.

The surrounding streets are quiet and safe, the rooms are spotless and the common areas smell clean and fresh. This boutique hotel is amazing and overall, building outlook and toilets need to be improved. Minibar prices are reasonable, free internet access through kiosk PCs in lobby and staff is attentive without being obsequious.

We particularly liked the fireplace and seating area looking out over the park, the George in Christchurch is a very elegant small hotel, the staff is impeccable and very helpful. The restaurants are fantastic.
