Seems like they are converting some of the hotel to super high end condos and plowing the money back into making the hotel even more top notch.

I guess that is why the Garden City Hotel can get away with billing itself as a luxury hotel, but it is really clear that the owners do not want to spend the money to achieve that status.

If there is a newer mid priced hotel like a Garden Inn, or a Hampton Inn near your destination, I think you could save a lot of money and have a better experience.

The location is pretty central to downtown Garden City which is very quaint and close to the massive Roosevelt Field Mall for those hardcore shoppers.

Really--'s in a spectacular location and luxury hotel.

Good location, great staff, wonderful restaurants.

A taxi ride from and to JFK airport costs $60 with tip, or $90 including tip for a town car.

Waited 20 mins cab didn't show (I waited only because the fare was nearly half of what it would be if I took a regular cab from the airport).

The room looked like it hadn't been redecorated since 1950, it stunk of cigarette smoke, the bed was like a rock, and our window faced the noisy parking lot.

Fortunately I was moved into a room with a king size bed which had been replaced in the last three years.

The rooms are large, the furniture a little dated but the beds are very comfortable!

The bed was much too soft and the linens were unpressed, Holiday Inn-quality--obviously not the upgraded type of bedding that all the better chain hotels are now providing.

The carpets, furniture, beds and pillows (we had access to three deluxe rooms) were uniformly way-overdue for replacement.

We ate in the hotels bar/restaurant and it was amazing!

At the doorway to the bar I was greeted by another very pleasant young man, Jason, the Restaurant Manager who smiled and asked if I was "Coming in for dinner or just a drink at the bar?

00 which included a king size room and a full American breakfast in the Rein Bistro restaurant.

The last straw was when six of us went for breakfast -- subpar, of course -- at the restaurant in the lobby.

Several Deli's and a cardshop breakfast place about two blocks east were excellent for such meals.

Service from reception staff was above average on my visit, though I chose not to dine in the hotel.

The staff was amazing from the doormen to the ladies behind the front desk.

What stands out the most about the Hotel is the service and attitude of the staff and the Hotel's location in easy and lovely walking distance to a quaint street of restaurants and shops.

All the staff were friendly and provided personalized service.

Everything from "How was your parking experience, Let me tell you about all our restaurants, here is how you get to the salon, the pool hours are!

It is a fantastic building and has a large beautiful lobby and reception area, with valet parking and doormen who remember your name, (even though we only spent two nights there!

The GC Hotel is gorgeous on the outside, classy lobby and manicured gardens etc.

Furthermore at least the rooms in facilities are clean.

After checking into my room, very clean no hair in the shower or on the sheets.

The room was comfortably equipped, nicely furnished(in an old fashioned way) and clean.

Sure the rooms need updating but they are clean and spacious.

We checked in to our room which was very clean and well kept.

In Long Island and the Town Square of Garden city is within walking distance. Value to be excellent and the prices are high. Lobby is beautiful and the staff is very nice.

Furniture a little beat up, the restaurant is very expensive.

Nice town, a very pleasant village of shops and the hotel was 5 star at its best. The price was much more reasonable than Manhattan, front desk personnel were fine and all the employees that I encountered were friendly. Room 722 was quiet and my toilet had a huge crack in. The food was fantastic and check-in was great.

Good location and pleasant atmosphere. An impressive lobby, friendly staff and rate negotiated by wedding hosts was very reasonable. Room service was fine and the pillows were the best.

The bathtub had not been renovated and the breakfast the next morning was insanely expensive.

Attended wedding on Long Island and lovely walking distance to a quaint street of restaurants. Bar area is well appointed and hotel is very nice from the outside. The prices charges are way too high and the lobby is beautiful.

The rooms look about a hundred years old and wines start at $30 a bottle- really isn't that bad. The pool is small.

Really--'s in a spectacular location and luxury hotel. Lobby are beautiful, the staff seemed unprepared to handle large crowds and the beds are quite comfortable. The food particularly breakfast is excellent.

My stay was absolutely fabulous and meeting staff were helpful as were the bellman. The rooms were beautifully appointed, the food was very good.

The prices were a bit expensive and our mattress was old.

Very nice stay, has a large beautiful lobby and all the staff were friendly. Additionally bed was fine, the food was delicious and the concierge was less than helpful as well.

The lobby area is very nice and the service at the hotel is great. The bellhop staff especially Fernando is extremly friendly as well and bathroom is large. The food in the cafe is awesome and the dining facilities are excellent.
