Forbury Hotel Reading - 雷丁

On a more positive note the hotel is in a good central location, though hardly describe it in any way as Mayfairesque as is advertised on the site.

I have stayed in in Mayfair several times and this location has no similarities that I could see.

Unfortunately the service, atmosphere and location are not.

The hotel is centrally located and is also only a five minute walk to the train station.

We had a double room, not one of the suites, but it had a four poster bed and gorgeous bathroom.

Large king bed and a fantastic bathroom with large bath & monsoon shower.

Everything about the room was great from the DVD's and CD's, fantastically comfortable bed, complimentry soft drinks, huge bath, monsoon shower and a goodies bag for my wife.

The highlights of the room being the espresso machine, complimentary soft drink mini bar and the in room entertainment system with selection of CDs and DVDs, the bed was very comfortable too.

Our room was amazing, lovely goodie bag, coffee machine, fresh milk, big bed, funky TV/CD player.

Moreover the room was lovely, the staff behind the bar were first rate and breakfast at Cerise was wonderful.

However, next time we would might consider dining and breakfasting elsewhere, although the courtyard dining/bar area was so nice that we may eat in again.

Onle downside was that no food or drinks were available after the bar shut by room service after midnight on the night I was there - management advise me that this is being dealt with however.

The food at the function dinner was outstanding, and i can only imagine that it is on a par with their normal restaurant menu.

We ate out so only had breakfast at the hotel which was pretty good.

The staff made the stay even better, service was as good as we could have hoped for and everything about the room was great from the DVD's.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, service was superb.

On the plus side, the food for our reception was great and the staff behind the bar were first rate!

But most of all, the staff and service just don't live up to the opulence of this hotel and that is what makes it not quite work.

The only thing missing is a spa and swimming pool and this would be the perfect place to stay!

We had to ask a few times for an ironing board and when it arrived the housekeeping barged in while I was stood in my pants-oops!

Croissant in their private garden the next day too.

The room was absolutely spotless, fresh milk is put in the fridge in the afternoon.

A very friendly concierge brought up our stuff and the room was absolutely spotless.

They didn't clean our room when we went out so we had to ask them to do it (maybe because of the do not disturb light not working, who knows?
