Avalon Hotel & Spa Portland - 波特蘭

First the good parts: Nice Willamette River location, close to The Pearl District, very helpful valet staff & sharp facility overall.

Also, the location is next to the River, which was nice, as I like to go jogging.

The location is a bit difficult to find, and the check in clerk offered to drive to where I was to lead me in!

Good location--very quick drive to downtown portland and rivers is a great food.

I flew in and arrived at 11:30 pm and so either had to pay for a taxi all the way to Avalon or take public transportation.

The bed had a pillow top mattress, there were robes in our room, and there was a separate tub and shower in the bathroom.

Room was nice: marble floors and countertop in the bathroom, complimentary robes for use, comfortable bed and elegant interior design.

Our bed was comfortable, and the room was tastefully decorated.

Lockers, dressing rooms, toiletries (if you forget your razor they have you covered), slippers, cold water, showers with doors, a tiled hot tub, steam room, and sauna.

Also impressive was the rooms, the views, and the comfort of the bed.

The breakfast in the adjacent Rivers Restaurant was overshadowed by a loud fan in the kitchen which almost made it too loud to eat.

We also ate at The Rivers restaurant next door for our anniversary.

It would be nice to have a breakfast and low end lunch/dinner option.

Rivers is a great food, service and ambience restaurant.

Complimentary breakfast is good - it is served on each floor and you can eat as much as you want including fresh fruit and pastries.

The staff at the front desk could use additional training on customer service.

Whenever I called the front desk for basic questions, they were very pleasant, using my name (which I think is always a great touch by the staff).

The spa/gym facilities were exceptional and the staff made me feel right at home.

Lovely walking path along the river, modern rooms - I love the spa/fitness center attached and the following hotels are a better bet by far: ****Riverplace.

Free internet (although if you want wireless, you have to pay $9.

Fourth, the supposed wireless internet was so slow as to be unusable--dial up would have been 100 times better.

The room was clean and the adjoining restaurant was closed the night of our arrival due to a private booking.

Have not encountered any of the room troubles mentioned in other reviews - always clean for me, etc.

The rooms are very clean and spacious, enough for two!
