However I would probably stay at the lower price jerusalem hotel on Nablus road instead as the people and staff were a lot friendlier.
Having stayed in luxury and boutique hotels in almost every continent, my husband and I did not feel the service was commensurate with the price.
I loved the room, the service, the food, the location, and the building itself.
The American Colony offers the best location, service and rooms in all of Israel.
The location is great too-about 10/15 minutes walk to Jaffa Gate.
But it is still 5 minutes away by foot from the old city so it is fine.
We felt comfortable walking to the Domascus Gate by day, and there were always taxis in the evening.
The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean, with robes, slippers, thick, fresh towels, hot water, big bath-top notch.
The bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom had the heated floor which was excellent since it was snowing when I arrived.
We booked one of the Pasha rooms on the courtyard with a balcony and we were there for 2 nights--beautiful room, beautiful bathroom, beautiful property.
The room was large, well furnished, with high ceilings and a very elegant bathroom with a free standing bath and a separate shower.
My wife needs more room in the bathroom for all of her items, the flat screen tv and the room amenities were very nice and top notch.
Rooms are nicely furnished, the garden bar is great and the breakfast the most elegant than i have seen.
You never know who you'll meet in the bar or the restaurant.
The cellar bar is cozy and lovely, the breakfast was very nice.
The simple breakfast is perfectly fine and even when we had to check out of the hotel at 4am to catch a plane, they still provided us with a good breakfast even though the restaurant/kitchen was closed.
It took over an hour to get our food both nights and we ate in the main restaurant the first night and the bistro the second.
The service was excellent, the evening concierge was better than the day one and was initially given a noisy room due to construction work at the swimming pool.
Palestinian reception staff are courteous, excellent broadband in rooms is available for $20 extra a night and a lovely restaurant that is popular.
The arab hospitality of the staff is warm and friendly and the service is impeccable.
The hotel has a small but good fitness room overlookign the pool and a small spa.
The fitness area next to the pool and the breakfast buffet are of the expected standard.
Ask for the deluxe Pasha room, 14 is my favorite with big terrace overlooking the pool area.
Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel provided free wireless broadband connections.
The room I had ( 13) was immaculate and clean with gorgeous vaulted ceilings.
Jerusalem is perfectly fine, all the staffs are friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean.
The rooms are airy, spacious, breezy and wonderfully clean.
The room was nice, clean, and had an oldish feel to it, although.
Don't expect lavish accomodations but you can count on a nice clean room and very nice and coopertaive staff.
